A collab made in heaven for me. In 2023 my #1 artist on Spotify was Ren, and #2 was Prof. Prof is unique and unmistakable, same as Ren. Makes many of his own beats, can sing, awesome rapper, just another great all- around artist.

I didn't dig into Prof's work until I heard this collab was happening - a few that come to mind right now are Heaven, Subpar, High Priced Shoes, and he did a collab with Tech N9ne years ago. Prof is independent after from what I can gather he got dropped by his label (not sure of the story though), so like Ren lots of similarity. And Ren did put a twitter post about the timing of the song after what happened with trump.

I loved your perspective on this song. Prof has some fun tracks like Pack a lunch, high priced shoes, Horse, Andre the giant… and he has 2 notable serious songs…Louisiana (orig video) talking about the George Floyd riots which happened a block away from where he lives, and Flower boy- check out the live .. so emotional. I discovered Prof when Ren said he was going to be doing a collab with him and I had t heard any of his music and now he is one of my favorite artists.

I hadn’t heard of Prof before seeing renegades getting hyped for this collaboration. He did great. Definitely some interesting bars. Ren is my guy, I’ve been subbed to you for a year I don’t know, a while for sure But Please Dive into Prof Prof has suffered but like Ren he has triumphed/maybe not triumphed but both are 100% not victims they are champions, they are champions for us that have pains (physical or emotional) .. #kujobeats and ren's team had a contract for ren to use one of his beats in the song Sick Boi. Kujo put a copyright strike against the song yesterday (i think) and the song/video has been removed from youtube

Kujo beats put a sample in the beat (the choir in the background) and did not ask permission. The choir wants compensation for their sample now they see how much it sold. Ren had no idea that the beat he purchased legally hadn't been fully vetted. So it all falls on Ren since it's in his song and on many albums. Slimy, looks like Kujo doesn't want to take a hit but wants Ren so suffer the damages. Ren has tried with him to settle it fair, there is a lot a stake. Many sold albums, streams, etc.

​@@kellyt5341 I don't think the choir are the big part of this, it's the producer exploiting a loophole because the content ID was turned on to now be demanding more than originally contracted AND on top of that it turns out the producer didn't license the sample. But Sick Boi is registered for the sample so I wonder if they got their publishing but the producer didn't (as that is why he kicked off in the first place and now wants not just what he was owed but more on top).

@@MissMeKate Thanks lady, vital information for sure. A bit more complicated than I thought. So in a nut shell it looks like a fight in court with the lawyers. If Kujo doesn't make it fair, he will have to fork out for a lawyer as well. So everyone loses except the lawyers. 🙄

If K hasn't been getting the money he rightly deserves as producer then it's absolutely right he should kick up about that, but once Ren was on the case and getting that sorted it's just greed for him to ask for more than the original contract and hold the vid effectively hostage until he gets it. I really hope they can agree to honour the original contract. Ren has already said he'll take the hit of paying extra for the choir's cut that K technically should come out of K's cut (as he should have licensed the sample). So while there have been screw ups on both sides, the only one losing out on the original deal is Ren. If K is acting in good faith he'll honour that deal and unblock the video. But he seems unwilling to do that and would rather make Ren have to scrap it completely. Ren could re-record it with a homemade beat but it would be hard because he couldn't 'copy' the old beat so he'd basically have to completely redo the whole song and make it something new. Which would be a shame for both of them! So crazy. It's all a money game.
