One tip for doing driveway coatings, get yourself a pair of golf shoes, the kind with plastic cleets. You walk on the cleets and don't leave footprints. You can walk right across the freshly coated surface without leaving a mark on it, plus they barely leave a trace if you make a bad step somewhere on a sidewalk. Still good to use care, but the tell tale black footprints won't happen.

Used to do sealcoating asphalt the sealer we put down came from a plant that would fill the tanker up we added sand to it and a little bit of water also the sealer we used to spray down contain de creosote same stuff they use on railroad cross ties or they used to and when we spray the parking lot it was a lot thicker than what's coming out of the end of that that might hold up for a driveway but for commercial use I don't think it would last

This type of driveways doesn't need edging before spraying. It's a water-based seal coat that doesn't have as much sand in it as commercial jobs and works well in this low-pressure system. In some cases, a sand-free coat is used just to change the color before a sale. The grass will be fine. If you want the price to go up a bit, shielding the grass should be added in the estimate. For the quality of this house, I would have shielded the grass for free advertising's sake. Keep using that board, but use a thin one for curved work and cut out handles for more control. Most guys will brush a line along the garage edge for a tighter line. Spraying right at the edge of the house is risky and doesn't lay a perfect line without getting overspray on the house. The material is going down well and the hose management is much better this time. Remember, these guys are working on the clock and you get what you pay for.

@radar982 жыл бұрын
Sure looks like a Water-based sealer, not oil. It's a mix of creosote, sometimes latex, water, and sand. The oil-based seal coaters are used over oil spots and give off a rainbow of colors when applied. The one used here will dry in a few hours and can be walked on same day. Oil-based coater takes much longer, which is why they are almost never used in commercial sprayers like this.
@MiroBG3592 жыл бұрын
Is this any different than the pour and smear method?
@megaman42012 жыл бұрын
Yes, you will get better coverage and more thickness with the pour and spread method. I'm an automotive painter with over 30 years experience, the one coat spray method he's using isn't going to give complete saturation and coverage. I had this done once on my own driveway and was completely unsatisfied with the results. As the wand arcs outward the spray pattern is widening and the distance between the end of the wand and the driveway increasing so you have uneven coverage and with only one coat you would need at least a 75% overlap with each pass and slightly slower application speed to get full coverage, in my opinion. I would definitely go with the pour method unless you were getting this done relatively cheaply and are going to do it every 1 to 2 years. TC in Annapolis Maryland

How many coats of asphalt do you provide, it looks too thin, if it's only one coating, it will not last very long. It's supposed to be thicker and hot coming out of a machine. You are just coating the top of the old asphalt.

It's not Asphalt its a Sealcoating. From the looks of it Gilsonite. Which is a oil based product but not new Asphalt

It's seal coating, not paving.

That light of a coat isn’t sealing anything. 🤣

@@FastFordClub 🤣A blind man can see you have almost no penetration. Don’t get mad. Just label the video “Cosmetic Facelift” or “Lipstick on a pig” instead of asphalt sealing. Really hoping it doesn’t snow where these jobs are because if it does you are providing a straight up scam. If you can’t handle the criticism don’t post videos on KZbin.

Qui in Svizzera pitturano il pavimento dei parcheggi sotterranei per evitare che il sale antighiaccio che si deposita con l’entrate delle auto in sosta , degeneri il cemento 👋🏻

Maybe a second coat? One just doesn’t seem enough to last a good year in my humble opinion
@FastFordClub Жыл бұрын
It looks deceiving, it's a pretty good coat. Remember, this is a rejuvenation sealer, it soaks into the asphalt.

@@Lunentuckeraround 0.23 cents a sqft, that seems very cheap? Is that a very fair price or is it different because your driveway is humongous?
@Lunentucker2 ай бұрын
@@wefastflip Probably a combination of location and size of the job. But it also has to do with what type of materials are used. This will last 2-3 years here in central VA.
