@@EmeroyB They just uploaded the choreography video for Dynamite a couple of hours ago and the expressions are still clear! Also the dances in this MV aside from the group dance are freestyle or thought of on-site while they were filming so it was all raw and fun! :)

The blonde guy in double denim and did the MJ part is Jimin. He’s a versatile dancer, good in hip hop, pop and lock, ballet, contemporary and traditional. He got the cleanest/prettiest dance line out of all members, if not in the kpop industry. Please check his solo performance Serendipity live SY tour in Japan (link in comment). I’d love to drop more because he’s really amazing but please react to the video mentioned first😂

I think you should appreciate jhope too! Jimin is versatile but jhope is the most technically skilled dancer. His technique is very advanced and his environment awarness is incredible. Now jimin- his dancing is very clean and is amazing at keeping the beat. He is very talented and has many tricks up his sleeve. Jimin can do many styles of dance making a him adaptive and flexible. Jhope has better knowledge of freestyle and complexity. His stage presence consumes the stage. Jimin is very delicate and show stopping. Jhope tends to overdance sometimes or outshine other members when it’s not his solo. Jimin tends to underdance or miss details and it takes him longer to learn dances. Please appreciate all members everyone has imperfections.

You mentioned in one of them that you've seen other 'dancer reacts...' out there, but I don't think any of them (that I've seen so far) are approaching it from the same industry professional approach so you are adding something new. I've enjoyed the commentary and details you've pointed out - as a dance mom for 9 years this was the first time I heard about how to watch a performance using your peripheral vision! Where were you back when I first started attending competitions? (Any advice on how to distinguish one teenage girl contemporary routine from another? Asking for a friend.) Please keep these going, and I 2nd the nomination that you react to BTS' Black Swan dance practice and video.

thank you sooo much! tbh, I loved watching jazz, lyrical, and contemporary routines back in my high school competition days. i guess the main question that comes to mind for me is what are you trying to distinguish? technique? musicality? use of the floor? choreography? performance? endurance? all of which i think can be done through film. film both performers and review it side by side like how athletes review game footage. i run a company in marketing so data is huge in helping us make the right piece of content. for you, you could use the data from reviewing the videos to pinpoint things like the things I mentioned above. dancer A has better technique? dancer B can make it up with the other aspects. better choreography, performance, and/or use of the floor. dancer A has the same song? dancer B would need to provide a different experience, not better because dancer A already left an impression. example, dancer A shows off more technique in one part of the song, dancer B can show off more in other areas. hope this helps!

@@EmeroyB Sad to say, I'm mostly trying to distinguish one routine from another while I'm at a competition. I'm not a very visually oriented person so the details often escape me (one of the things I like about your critiques is it points out things I would miss). I judge dancers and numbers not by technique or choreo, about which I am clueless, but by my subconscious impression of how it 'feels.' Does it make me smile, cheer, cry (no joke, first time I saw krump in person I almost bawled), or feel mesmerized? Did it get across a story or message? Was there something unexpected that made my jaw drop or breath catch? Those types of things. For duos and group numbers, I can usually pick up enough between performance and choreo to form a 'feel' from it. Solos, particularly lyrical ones, tend to all blur together unless someone has a unique choreo/personality/song choice or just has those elegant lines that come with great technique (or if it's a male dancer, because since my son is the one who dances I'm always more attuned to figuring out who the other boys at a competition are). Your advice about using peripheral vision was great because I've always struggled with knowing where to look to see the dance as a whole and not just individual pieces of it. I joked that It takes seeing my son's group pieces 5 times before I can even notice what anyone else in the routine is doing.

@@EmeroyB You should really check out some of J-Hope's dance videos, he's truly exceptional and he gets lots of praise for his skills by pros. His moves are so clean its amazing to watch. He actually keeps things more unified in the group but when he dances alone or during dance breaks he really lets loose. He also did a bunch of Freestyle Dance videos on his own time because dancing is his passion. Not many people request his videos because he is less popular but I think you would love them.

I really appreciate that you point out specific dance moves and give the names of the moves. I don't see that happen very often. I love your enthusiasm for the performance, and I completely agree that the members really sell the performance with their facials. I'm seeing a lot of comments recommending you react to Jimin. I think you would also enjoy watching J-Hope perform. He has a longer history with popping and locking, and he competed with a dance crew before becoming a trainee with Big Hit in 2010. He's a phenomenal dancer. You probably know all of the members of BTS are great dancers and have their own unique styles and strengths, though. Thank you for the great reaction!

Speaking of MJ, you should check out Taemin! He is a very experienced idol and dancer, and an incredible performer, sometimes referred to as the MJ of kpop (though ofc he is his own amazing artist)! His dances vary between modern (2 kids), subtle and androgenous (MOVE), seductive/MJ references (WANT), and much more! I hope you enjoy!

oh man i love hearing your explanations and names for everything, it's so interesting to know the perspective of someone who really knows about dance and performing! relly apreciate the reaction! aso, yeah the mv doesn't really have much dancing, they're going to be performing this for the first time in the vmas so we don't really know anything about it beyond what we've seen on the video Oh! also, if you want a non-kpop recomendation i would say check out hozier's movement video, saw it today and its a beautiful song with some equally beautiful dancing (i don't know if it's contemporary, but that's the vibe i got!) a kpop recommendation would be bts' live stages, they're something else. Black swan is very good, but i personally love their longer stages they do for award shows, a must see is definitely the mma 2018 stage.

Thank you for your reaction and your insights. Some comments mentioned it already but I think you would enjoy the live performances. I think you might like those more than the MVs because it will have the entire Choreography rather than snippets they use in the mvs. As you can see. BTS are amazing performers. I saw many mention Serendipity. That's a good choice. May I also recommend Singularity live too. Also, there are many fan cams with a member focus. That might be interesting for you too since it follows one specific member. About the the intro videos. I feel that each person gets into things in different ways. When you're ready and want ro know more about BTS as a group, that's the best time to watch those. The most updated one is This is BTS by XCeleste. But like I said do what you want, watch more mvs live performances, dance practices or go to an intro video. BTS is like an adventure. Haha so have fun exploring.
