All the work you put in was worth it James, you were superb 👏👏 Very enlightening and has certainly made me appreciate the complexities of goalkeeping even more 👍

I really enjoyed James's analysis, very interesting. Goalkeepers have so much to think about and some is down to their quick judgements not always being perfect. Well done Matt.

Excellent guest and an insight into an area most people are unfamiliar or inexperienced. Hopefully he returns as a guest again.

This is an absolutely fanstastic watch. Such research and effort put in and it all comes across. You explain well all things, and make us realise how little we understand about the intracacies of the GK position. I am so happy I guessed correctly in my assessment of Miguel in that Newcastle game (even if I got shouted down a bit when I said he did so well!). Thanks again and hopefully you can be back on as GK at Forest is always topical! Also best of luck with your career.

Really enjoyed this Video. James had really done his research for this and had a great insight into the world of a goalkeeper. My lad plays in goal and it can be a really difficult position mentally as they can be very easy to blame. Great episode Matt

This is one of the best episodes done. Initially I thought it would be just a filler episode in the international break, but actually it was so insightful. Keepers get so much flack on this channel and it’s great to be offered true unbiased perspective from a professional that actually knows what it is like. This isn’t a criticism of the pundits / commenters and I’ve certainly been critical, but this is a great reminder to us all that being a GK in the prem is harder than it looks on the TV. Either that or James is the head of the keepers union.

Great content again Matt, thank you. As a goalkeeper, I particularly enjoyed it. Thanks James.

As a former, in my playing days at a very low level, a GK myself, I found this a really interesting insight into the goals we've conceded in the examples chosen. They also back up my opinions and personal experience that as the "last line of defence", a GK is often subject to unwarranted criticism from people that have never played the position. Great show and valuable information thanks Matt and James 👏👌👊

Sels has done fine, doesn’t deserve the talk of being replaced.

Where’s Big Norm? 🤷🏻♂️ But glad you took my suggestion on board 👍🏻 as I mentioned in previous vids, I didn’t like the tone of some of the panellists re. Sels

Brilliant podcast and shows that a lot of the criticism of Sels was probably undeserved. As James mentioned when a goal is scored most people look to find some fault in the goalkeeper even when that goalkeeper has done things correctly and is just beaten by the quality that all teams have in the Prem.

James mentioned that Sels has the longest average pass length in the Prem. It’s actually also the longest in Europe’s big 5 leagues!
@danscapeАй бұрын
Actually scrap that. Sels average pass length is the longest in all domestic leagues covered by FBRef
@Forest-FocusАй бұрын
@@danscape I thought Pickford was longer but I last saw that stat a few weeks ago. I am surprised it's so high as we don't feel like a long ball team but as James said, it's more of a guided long pass with Sels.
@danscapeАй бұрын
@@Forest-Focus if you judged our style of play based on stats, we look like prime Wimbledon. We have very low possession, long passes, offsides, goals from set pieces, lots of yellows.

He shouldn't be worried about talking about prem keepers. Let's face it. Sky has Neville and Carragher talking. the next stage for Sky is to get them reading.

Nah on the free kick Sels should have been a yard to his left. If Welbeck beats the wall top corner, fair enough!!

This proves KZbinrs need to stop talking about goalkeepers/goalkeeping. Completely different sport. Some of the analysis on this channel about sels is terrible, this video proves it

What a great video. I have been missing going through what actually happen on the grass. Don't learn much football (neither do young generation) listening to gossip, but videos like this is actually informing. I would love more videos looking at football at a deeper level of things like this. And for a new generation, the young kids, ...it can help them be a better future. As a kid... do you wanna join or spend time on football if you watch very eager KZbinrfans-channels throw dirt at your favorite player and slander their name again and again for entertainment? Some gossip will always be around, (and can even be positive at times) but in general "it's easily turns toxic and not much nutrition for confidence and growth."
