Good video. I’m in Ireland so similar weather. My lawn is 100% dwarf perennial rye grass which was sown last March. When is the best time to overseed this year?
@lawnassociation2 жыл бұрын
Dwarf rye will germinate now to some extent but as it has very little root system it doesn’t bind turf together well hence why it can’t be cut as often during the winter

A professional will typically have equipment that makes it easier and faster to do the same work a homeowner would. His/her time is much more valuable as ultimately it affects profitability. A professional would also hold the spraying licence to apply more effective concentrated products and usually but not necessarily have superior knowledge.

What we’re hoping is to show they’re both similar and yes the difference is size ( ooh err) and speed and to some degree knowledge. But many don’t have knowledge just enthusiasm. Results wil be very similar ( although lots of cold temperatures and storm damage at present)

@@lawnassociation lol at size difference. I'm guessing your main idea is to show us the end result and how similar they are, and of course correct knowledge goes some way towards this. I think the online course has been a great way to meet the knowledge gap sometimes present and I can see this channel really gathering pace this year. Keep up the good work 👍

Glad it’s helping. Yes the principles are exactly the same but many try and make out it’s a secret that they only know. And many times they are qualified no more than a homeowner. Truegrass is the best professional lawn feed in the world now available to homeowners. Herbicides are used far too liberally by too many instead of choosing native grasses so there’s plenty of education needed for many

@@lawnassociation Yet to test the true grass, just waiting for conditions to improve so probably next month. Re the herbicides, there are many at the moment blanket spraying the whole lawn when come late April/may there will be a whole new weed bank to contend with. Its overuse and excessive when hand weeding or spot treatment is all that is needed.

Why did you decide to hand rake the surface trash but use the back pack blower on the thatch? Did the original scarifier break and you needed to replace it with the orange one? The "professional" lawn care providers I see work on a long duty cycle of two week then insist on cutting the turf extremely low. I think an amateur is able to mow more often according to the potential of growth and not cut off to much at one time.

Hi Wayne, the perimeter debris was raked to give space around the flower borders so the blower wouldn’t contaminate. The scarifier was changed as the new one hasn’t been PDI’d as yet. Not sure what you mean about professional lawn care providers ? Do you mean mowing companies?
