I've been catching a lot of ‪@RTGame‬ and his recent Persona 5 Royal playthrough. As someone who has a few too many hours on this game, I decided to go through his most recent video. I'll be using this video to talk about how he is fairing, along with some tips and tricks for everyone who has recently picked up the game!

RTGame has this extraordinarily uncanny ability to talk in-passing about exactly what's going to happen later in any game he's playing. It was especially noticeable in his Ace Attorney series; he pretty much knew the conclusion to every case by the end of the first day of investigation, even when there was not nearly enough evidence to actually suggest he was correct. I can recall like, one or two points in his playthroughs where he legitimately didn't see something coming. He even once correctly speculated an entire character's backstory by chance when he first met them.

He overall just has a HIGH understanding of tropes in fiction to the point where he can attribute them to certain characters, games, and media right when he gets a firm grasp of them. (Also it might be because he just tends to use this prediction joke A LOT in his streams.)

I remember he got to one case and was able to correctly guess the murderer, confidant, motive, AND cause of death, even pinpointing how they would hide it, BEFORE THE MURDER EVEN TOOK PLACE. Chat was DEAD silent lmao

Why go into mementos and lose an afternoon for doing one thing then extra grinding when I could have them build up and then spend several hours in mementos getting everything done in a session freeing up more time to work on raising skills or confidants

I believe the reason why RT was able to call out future plots reveal in Persona and able to figure out the cases in Ace Attorney was because- and i know this is a meme, but seriously- he is an English Major and the man have probably been exposed to many narrative driven media. When you read or watch as many movies, books, game. You start to see plot patterns and trope. He's got a good grasp on story. His Bugsnax gameplay is by far my favorite because the man was truly flabbergasted at the sudden SHIFT in narrative the seemingly light hearted game have. In this case Persona games are filled with these tropes and throughout Persona 5 alone, they weren't hiding much of the obvious plot points. In fact, if you're perceptive, you can find them right off the bat. It's like when RT find out about the plot points of the weird Palace you find with Kasumi being linked to Maruki while he was editing and caught onto the fact that Kasumi was talking to her "broken phone" and saying the name Doctor Maruki, Stadium, Lab. I love when RT play story-driven games like these because he's got a good input and opinion on the story/plot/characters.

RT has a wild train of logic and a variety of wild guesses that always somehow managed to be able to correctly predict Japanese based games down to their minute plot most likely hours before it gets revealed. This man either has a future at fortune telling or is just a really good English major.

Orpheus, the DLC persona, he crafted instead of getting it for free, so his logic is that it was craftable at his level so it was allowed

When I played this game I had Morgana, Ryuji, and Yusuke as my party members and played around attack buffs, concentrate and phsyical technicals with Morgana as a healer and support, so seeing RTGame go for a different way of playing was very interesting as he focused way more on building the perfect Persona than I did. He has very good intuition with this game and seems to know what to optimize. Outside of battle especially where he manages to be very efficient. He plays up stuff for laughs but he's very clever and has a knack for stuff like predicting plot points and game mechanics.

Dan has consistently been struck by the gift of prophecy (you can see this most clearly in ace attorney but consistently in every story based game he plays he predicts all the big plot twists before he even HAS evidence to justify it), which leads me to believe he’s the new oracle of delphi and i will not take criticism

I'm pretty much never interested in strategy analysis (or strategy in general, I always play games on the lowest difficulty because like 90% of my interest is in plot lmao) but I found this really fun and enjoyable to watch.

Tips for P5R: Keep Slime or Agathion and get Ryuji to rank 6 before Madarame, DON’T enter on 5/20 and go hang out with Ryuji at night to get insta-kill before Kaneshiro.

As soon as you unlock Jose and his upgrades, maxing out items to whatever your current cap is, and then going up and down the floors until you find the ATMs lets you never have SP issues again in your entire playthrough. It's just so stupidly strong.

As far as using DLC goes, if I recall the stream correctly, RT didn't want to use the DLC for free. He's using the DLC persona here because he fused it fair and square rather than just automatically getting it.

In my pc playthrough I got a shiki-ouji in madarames palace and I am still using him now in 6th palace. Through lockdown I've gotten null nuke on him and I've slowly raised his level and stats through fusion alarms.

Charge and Concentrate are indeed 2.5x every hit. Fun anecdote but it took me forever in Persona 4 to start using them since I had just played Persona 3 where they are completely useless (Only doubling damage that you could have just done in 2 turns of using the spell with little SP cost extra). I'm so glad they got buffed in 4 and then stayed the same in 5

Ya, the crystal of vanity was on joker after acquiring it from Jose to the end of the game, plus the ability you get for the upgraded version is nuts so it really is the best one in the game and had me kinda disappointed every time I got a new one after that and it didn’t compare to the one I got from the second palace 😂

If you want to go through the game nice and easy, I've found there's actually a difficulty mode they didn't label: Izanagi no Okami Picaro or the non picaro version, I just prefer it because it can be really funny to hear joker try to say the full thing fast enough Anyways, be warned, it makes the game easy to the point where every fight boils down to joker choosing one attack on the first turn, and if the enemy somehow survives, you either choose it again, or concentrate, then do it again. Also when you do defeat enemies, joker is instantly healed to max hp and sp, so you never have to worry about any resources

0:32 Ayyy I've watched an 100% run of P5 and P5R so I'd say I'm... probably not as good as you but I'd certainly say I know what im doing as well in my own playthrough. In my own playthrough (I just got it for Christmas) I've gotten to [said Mafia boss]'s palace and now I'm rushing through, using one of RT's basic tactics which I never would have had the guts to do. Now I've gotta say, I actually kind of suck at the game, at least a little. For Madarame I had to cheat and use a DLC persona, else leave the palace for another day or grind up for 5 more hours (Seriously I found the man quite difficult on Hard and even with the level 20 DLC persona I almost struggled and even had to use a Revivadrin) and it was the literal BEST TIME to take him down, the palace was even done on that day in the 100% run. I did not feel like grinding low EXP for 5 hours just to be able to compete. I can do that in Mementos. Also said DLC persona has a new job: collecting dust in my persona list. As punishment for using it, it's going to stay in my list until I've atoned for it's usage. This means I have one less Persona slot and obviously I don't plan to fuse it away or itemize it when I finally decide to get rid of it. It will either be deleted by me, or deleted to be replaced by another Persona. Anyways imma make a run on comment. Refresh if this is the last part of this comment. 0:39 Yeahhh I only recently decided to get the game because I felt I had to give up on 100%. I've 100%'d other games but I CANNOT bring myself to with Persona 5 Royal. I am gonna max out all Social stats though. Also preferably all Confidants. I mostly need to focus on Team members, temporary team members, and the lovingly named "Snuncle" by RT's chat. And obviously, Hifumi, "Gunsin" (Gun cousin), The Maid, and the Fortune Teller. Oh, I forgot about "Sanders-san" Which leaves, like... Ohya (I like her story and her character is... tolerable but like RT I'm not really too fond of her perks and being a nighttime confidant honestly isn't that good because the Burger Challenge exists, Studying exists early game, Reading becomes OP late game, etc. 1:08 Brace yourself. It's gonna be painful. He becomes a Mary Sue which is even funnier because 1:23 Yooo I do that sort of stuff too Thankfully the runs I've watched, including yours, have given me the info I need. I'm certainly going strong, myself. 2:57 ... Yeaahhhhh he's going off the path of 100% in the future, but seriously Ryuji is OP and he's the easiest one to max out. And instakill exists. I... haven't done that myself. I've been more preoccupied with better Confidants... BUT SOON. Ryuji is rank 8 for me. ... All my others are rank 5 or lower. ... *it's 6/23 and my Kindness and Charm are rank 2 and the others are rank 3* I think this is good progress but I might be behind idk... Trying to get the rank 3's to rank 4 asap so the BBBC can max them out. Once it starts giving me 2 points though... yeah I'm gonna stop since there are easier ways to get 3 points, like the movies and books... 3:01 Strong physical attacker, has zio skills- WAIT DOES HE GET CHARGE ON LEVEL UP I FORGOR 3:15 Yusuke is good as a "not-Ryuji" but I'm more focused on the fact that Ryuji gets good AOE physical attack skills. My Yusuke is one level lower and has 1 more attack than Ryuji but moves like [Heavy Phys to 1 foe] and [Light Phys to all, 1-3 times] are legitimately powerful and I'm about to get [tier 2 single target Elec] on Ryuji. Also Raging Temper. It's incredible. 3:16 Decided to start playing the game again and Yusuke just got to the level where he can learn a physical skill... that is 5 less HP than Vicious Strike and does the same thing but also outs enemies to Sleep. ... *Sleep is an incredible status effect wdym it's CHEAPER!?* 4:51 Okay so I just came back to this video like a week later lol But seriously... NOTHING in this game gets you 4 points. AND THIS CHALLENGE GIVES YOU 6. One for each stat except kindness and 2 more for Guts. It's great 5:00 I would say it's good progress. I HEAVILY focused in ranking up my social stats in my own playthrough, except for Charm and kindness, because I was under the impression retaking the challenge as Captain literally just gave you the ability to even have a 4 point boost. It did not but hey it was motivation I also got the plant going so I had an influx of Kindness throughout everything, at least, and early on when I couldn't get books I didn't Study since I knew books would be more efficient in the future anyways so I had no reason to care, instead I Cleaned for free STE points towards Coffee Dad as well as kindness. Kindness is harder to come by in P5 than any other social stat ngl. 8:03 DLC stuff Also... Futaba ACTUALLY boosts AOA damage...? I just thought it healed the team 25% and had a different animation. Really sucks when I JUST HEALED after getting wrecked and she does it... 9:04 You can probably look it up lmao. Watching RT play Royal made me realize just how inefficient my base game playthrough was I never got any party confidants past 3 (other than Morgana who I didn't use) Didn't max Kawakami Didn't max Twins until Mementos palace Never unlocked Chihaya because it was too expensive Didn't max the Beef Bowl shop guy Only maxed out Proficiency, the rest were at 4 except for Kindness which was at 3 Was at least 5 levels under average for almost every palace Basically got through every boss fight with blocking on Joker, healing with Makoto, and then trying to sleep with Yusuke, and tech with Haru Or for earlier palaces, some other variation of that

"If you lose Joker's turn..." So when I played base P5, I actually spent, no joke, 4 hours, trying to get to a second turn on Shido. Somehow, he managed to land Rage on me every time, Harrisen would not activate, and I'd ko myself. The one time I didn't get hit with it, I beat the fight first try. It was the most frustrated I ever got with the game.

Remote play is very rubbish! I suggest investing in a capture card if you plan on playing or recording on PC :) Elgato does some alright ones

When you talked about him using dlc personas, i don't think he realised it was a dlc one, because for the entire playthrough he refused to use the dlc personas because of the fact that they were extremely op

As someone playing Persona 5 right now I can confirm this: Ryuji’s skills are broken, Yoshida is one of the best confidants(you also don’t need a Persona to progress his link from what I hear), Maruki is broken, also I never knew Morgana lying down means you can’t leave, finally Jose sounds like he’ll be broken

The Sun and Moon confidants don't require a Persona yes, you're garunteed a rank up every time you see them
