shingle gauges are worthless. very inaccurate. how do you know its not a worthless 35 year shingle? no mention of the following which means you dont know much. dormer roofed backwards. roof cement on pipe boot proves plastic pipe boots are worthless. shingles on pipe boot are installed incorrectly. auto caulk? 4 inch b vents and 5 inch b vents. xactimate auto figures valleys and ridges.

Already gave on this guy when he explained the shingle gauge. All of that information is wrong. Shingle gauges don't read profiles after 2011. Also, if it doesn't go to the 30yr does not mean it's a 50yr. Gauges wear. Don't use shingle gauge to unseal shingles folk. Quit saying y'all have been doing it for 30yrs. Buddy you marked to hail hits on the same buttend of the same shingle. You can't determine a count by basing same hits on a single course. You will not have damage on all slopes. So you have a 8 count in a 5x5 which would equal 16. That would be mechanical damage and spot defects that were just marked. No basis on collateral to justify damages. Please do not take this as a educational video bc inspectors don't teach this stuff.

Is good to replace new roofs. Insurance have alot of money. total scam ! Most roof shingles are over lap it may damage the top shingle but still have one more layer and the paper.

Thresher false. If there’s 8-10 hail hits in a 10x10 square or at least 4 of 6 slopes it’s deemed a total loss. The insurance would deem this a full roof replacement. Also, “the paper” is called felt. There may be asphalt felt underneath which is cheap felt. If it’s an older roof, there may be damage to the decking as well. Know what you’re talking about next time before you comment.

jts024 I mean if you know the year warranty and depreciation, you’ll know how much damage warrants replacement. Almost all adjusters and ladder assist companies use a shingle gauge.
