Sorry, but your game really doesn't have an amazing competitive scene, all in your head.

That's the thing about scrabble, it's a game primarily about memorization. It uses other factors as well, but if you don't know words are or how to spell them, it doesn't matter how good at math you are, or whatever the heck they claimed the other skills were that made it such a supposedly skillful game.

I played a game online where my opponent had about a 100 point lead on a closed board at the end of the game. Managed to open up a triple and I played all my tiles for something like 110, plus all the points for the letters they had left, won by a couple. What's particularly interesting is probably any other move they make wins the game, as it's the only instance I can think of of someone making the worst move possible.

Normally when I play Scrabble we don't allow abbreviations or slang words.
@notAshildr6 жыл бұрын
I think that's even in the rules... In Germany it certainly is, not sure about america.

most of these aren't abbreviations or slang words.

Me (No, not Ashildr, I had the name before Doctor Who, and I'm not changing it!) Yes I think it's in the rules here in South Africa too, a lot of things are allowed in America so honestly I wouldn't be surprised.
@clemoutoftime6 жыл бұрын
i don't think abbreviations or slang words are normally allowed, i think its just your perception on whether or not these words are abbreviations or slang words is skewed.

When I was Primary 5 my school sent me for a Scrabble competition. I remember losing one of the games until I played the word crimson with a blank tile which formed "crimsons". Not sure about the rules of professional scrabble but in that competition if you were challenged for the existence of a word and the word exists, you get double points. "Crimsons" alone gave me 35 points. My opponent challenged me and I got 70 points as a result and I eventually won. Felt great back then

I appreciate you guys! I'm an online player, played about 800 games but only won 56% so I'm not that great but I appreciate the tactics. I still find myself needing to check even short words all the time though, it must be nerve racking having to hold it all in your head

Lol, didn't even know being a professional at Scrabble was even possible.. But, I'm very interested to see these people play & fill up their entire boards with such huge, big, complicated, fancy, smart words! Lol. *i played scrabble very intensely for years and as a result of it, i decoded language itself and developed a skill into a power. the power was that i was able to speed read at an immeasurable level and i was also able to read books directly through their covers but not just one book at a time. i could read an entire shelving of books, at once. i could not look at word and see just the word. i saw dozens of words in an instant.* *that's all in the far distant past.* *i, actually, have been the world's greatest scrabble player of all time. but don't hate. and don't disbelieve.*
