I actually think you should check out Ann Wilson's band Heart on a song or two. If you prefer hard rock/metal try "Barracuda" (kzbin.info/www/bejne/hpawp4CEpdt1a68) or if you prefer something more like this Disturbed song try "Alone" (kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3TaYqGdbJp-hpI).

A great Disturbed heavy rocker that is somewhat melodic is The Vengeful One (kzbin.info/www/bejne/bp-6XnyGp9-AZ8k).

Ann Wilson with Heart - one of the best female rock voices ever.
@jenniferlandry57677 ай бұрын
I’m not the biggest metal fan by any means, but there is something about Disturbed that just gets me. Adding Ann Wilson to the mix is genius. If you ever want to react to Ann showing just how much of a powerhouse she is, do check out the live video of Stairway to Heaven that Heart did at the Kennedy Center Honors for Led Zeppelin. It is truly epic.
You’ve got to go and listen to Ann Wilson’s earlier music with Heart. She sings much lower now. She used to hit these amazing, piercing belts. Check out barracuda, magic man, or crazy on you. She’s a hell of a vocalist!

Love, love your reaction to this Peter! I’ve loved this since the album was released in fall ‘22. This video was just released, because it is truly art! I appreciated this in-depth analysis! Really helps to appreciate it even more. Dan Donegan the lead guitarist/keyboardist came up with the concept after going through a painful divorce. He brought it to Draiman and soon they realized they needed a female counterpart voice to tell the other half of the story. Ann and Disturbed have a mutual admiration and Ann indicated she’d love to collaborate with them sometime. She was the only one he would agree to do it with. Ironically he also went through a painful divorce last year. You can see it on his face and hear it in his voice!

Okay, I’ll admit it: this video analysis has convinced me to add a second heavy metal performer to my subscription list. This performance was incredible! Thank you for making me appreciate its complexity and exceptional execution.

Luv this duet! Ann has been belting out tunes since the 70s with the band Heart which also has her sister Nancy. She has a amazing well trained voice! Disturbed bringing her in is an amazing idea! Luv the song. Great reaction!!

During the 4 years they recorded Divisive, two of the band members' marriages broke down. Drummer Mike Wengren got divorced early in the pandemic and guitarist Dan Donegan went through a split in early 2022. This song is about a disintegrating relationship where each party struggles with letting go. It was inspired by the ending of Donegan's marriage. "That was a really personal one for me," Dan Donegan told Billboard. "During COVID-19, I was going through a divorce after 18 years of marriage. Part of that divorce process is that there was still a great deal of love we have for each other, and we couldn't imagine our lives without each other. Just that letting go, letting somebody go that you still love, but maybe the marriage just might not be working anymore... It was touching on that. It was just very personal." Donegan came up with the concept, then wrote the lyrics with Disturbed singer David Draiman. "I threw a few lines at him, and he took the ball and ran with it." Donegan said. Then Feb 2023 David Draimen also got divorced. You can really hear the pain in his voice.

Great analysis. I love both of these singers and for years have said David Draiman and Ann Wilson are the gold standard for male and female hard rock singers. Never thought I'd see them collaborate. The song and vocal performances are great, and the video images just add an extra layer of depth to the song. Really enjoyed your comments as well. Keep up the good work. I hope you'll do some additional videos to both Disturbed and Ann Wilson's band Heart.

If you like the style that's less heavy from Disturbed, try "The Light"; "If I Ever Lose My Faith In You" (cover of Sting's song); "Hold Onto Memories"; "A Reason To Fight" (the official music video since your focus is solely the vocal analysis.) They really have some gorgeous songs with deep messages. And David's spectacular vocals, of course.

Love Disturbed’s music, and appreciate your analysis. As an aside, before I watch your analysis of the duet between Placido Domingo and Dimash, I recommend that you check out Professor Georgievsky’s comments on the piece. He fills in the background of the performance as well as of Bizet’s opera. Looking forward to it.

I definitely like seeing more rock on your channel. Maybe ONE OK ROCK would be nice pick...? They have a really great vocalist too.
@kathleenlacher39647 ай бұрын
What voice range would you use to describe David's voice? I believe a baritone would have a difficult time with the high notes, and a 1st tenor would have trouble with the low notes, e.g. the beginning of "Sound of Silence". A 2nd tenor? Maybe he does not fit into one voice range?
