I always replace the hub seals as well at the same time, been caught out too many times with seals starting to leak a month after they’ve been disturbed, plus I repack the hubs and bearings with fresh grease. As for the half shaft collets I just use long withdrawal bolts and gently tap the cap with soft face hammer whilst using air gun to gently tighten withdrawal bolts evenly and slowly, the collets come off with the cap usually, great channel you have here, keep up the good work you deserve every success 👍

Give halfshaft good smack on side over stud,the collet usually jumps off.
@imavettelfan Жыл бұрын
For the collets i take of the nuts. use penetrating oil, put some tention with the draw bolts like you did. then hit the hub cap just above the studs. its gonna mess the customers paint up abit but thats sometimes the only way to get them to pop out

Alright fella found ya channel weeks ago and very funny 😄 Them collet’s come of the hub easy as mate bit of lube 😗 on when you remove the nuts put M14 bolts in the hub face and draw the hub of the collets will come of with the hub it’s worked for me all the time I work at scania too chum cracking vids btw

Put the nuts back on a couple of threads. Pull the hub cap off using the draw bolt holes. When the hub cap comes off far enough that it hits the hub cap nuts, stop and take the draw bolts out. Then twat the hub cap back on, the collets will stay on the studs or be loose enough to get out. I worked for scania as a technician for 20÷ years

Does anyone know if theres a certain torque for the hub nut. Looks like hes just doing it up ft with a bar. Im only used to Mercs that have a nipped up castle nut then a lock nut done up to a large torque setting. Got to do this job on a scamia for the dirst time this week. Thanks
