My favorite player of all time. I remember watching him play in Stockton when BYU came there in his first year back in 2013. Aside from the crazy talent you can tell he’s a great person. His best highlight and one of the best I’ve ever seen is that d ball he murdered over the block when the middle back took the set from the Lib. That hit was crazy and especially a set that high with that much back spin. FIRRRRE 😴😭

Fearless confession: In sporting events, or any competitions, I usually don't like USA and China. Mostly because they're strong (not so in the case of China's Men Volleyball team though) and I like underdogs. So when USA is up against another country, I would normally support the other team. But upon watching your videos, man, you are so likeable! You are now my favorite libero (and Grebennikov, always). I will be rooting for USA men's volleyball team from now on. [Also, Matt Anderson is super hot when he is hyped up during matches. His game face is hot. If there is Captain Volleyball America, it should be him. LOL]

When Patch had a blocking miss Match - unstoppable highlight reel. When he gets top tear opposition though, he struggles. His technique is designed to hit the ball down and not spike deep with spin which is why it s either a monster kill or a monster block

Love the videos Eric! Love nerding out over the game with you! If you haven't already started, I'd love some reactions that are more technical. Especially of matches you played in. Where you can break down some of the strategy and why certain players are so successful at their position. Just something to lift our vball IQ a little and elevate our game, whatever level we're at. Thanks, can't wait to see what you put up next!

Talking about being able to hit bad sets, let’s remember that Patch played his college ball at BYU, which hasn’t exactly had a succession of great setters. (Taylor Sander became a zen master of sorts at manufacturing kills on poorly located sets at BYU.) I also remember when BYU played back-to-back matches at UCLA in Patch’s last college season. Patch was consistently hitting everything over the block and five feet in front of UCLA’s back-row defenders. After the match, Al Scates was interviewing Micah Ma’a and made the suggestion that UCLA’s back line might want to take a step or two forward in hopes of digging Patch. The look Ma’a gave Scates was classic: “Are you nuts?”

In hitting lines, I see they'll set Ben a really high 5 or outside set to catch and he'll get his timing right and put the ball away. He's extremely good and putting away high balls, or trouble balls that a lot of hitters would just try to get over the net. Very aggressive and explosive outside

most likely seam (between 2 blockers) and right above the tape. High seam would be the same area but hitting for hands. If Eric is saying that Ben is practicing not to hit low seam, it's probably because that's why he always gets stuffed

What is a low seam?
@dextergoredon65053 жыл бұрын
Like seam just means a gap between the players. When Erik says Ben is hitting low seam, it means he isn't reaching fully and hitting the ball high enough. Like Ben has the ability to swing over the block, but sometimes he hits the ball really low or snaps the ball down too much instead of reaching and swinging high/deep.
@littlewoim3 жыл бұрын
