After 100k miles on my Ultra I replaced the air/oil separators in the rocker boxes to help stop the oil in my air filter. Then also added the Fueling dipstick and that thing is nice. The stuff that’s inside the Fueling dipstick cap is exactly the same stuff in a twin can air/oil separators. I’m very happy with Fueling.

I greatly reduced the awful blowby of my 114 by slightly under oiling the engine, I mean by that running it at 90-95% of the full hot mark but she's still puking a little. But doing this requires to be a little more vigilant on your oil level and not let it go down too much. I may end up doing the Feuling thing but I can't wait to see your report on this.

Bought my CVO Trike last Saturday, waiting for some upgrades to be added to pick it up, but the warmer weather here in MI makes me sad I don't have it yet to sit my ass on. Going with a vented dipstick, Fueling more than likely but going to figure out an EBS also. That way vented on both strokes of the motor.

The competition’s hose routing goes up, under the gas tank, and the filter rest behind the air filter cover. The theory being that gravity will let any expelled oil run back down into the tank, and being up high won’t suck oil out of the tank.

I bought one. Here in Europe they cost over $400 due to taxes and duties. On the test ride after fitting I initially felt no change. Then after a while I convinced myself the throttle response was better, but then I thought my M8 engine was not running as smoothly as normal!. I guess its all subjective, but I will see what I think after more miles.

I got the gas monkey oil cap vent and the filter goes up under gas tank. Downside there's no dipstick and they advise you to run the oil level about a half quart low to prevent excessive blow by. Upside is it was $89. Although after testing there was minimal HP gain .5 but It really feels like frees the motor up and it accelerates better. I have to do the air filter ones next I have an after market arlen ness so oil just runs down the motor.

The Fueling Dip stick is definitely the Solution for the sumping as I understand it. The oil catch can is definitely a good idea. I was wondering if anyone has spoken to the service department at their local dealership about this issue. I want to say I am very happy with the service guys at my dealership they have treated us very well. When I asked them about this and showed them a video on the topic they acted like they had no knowledge of any issue with the M8 blow by. Maybe they are not allowed to say there is a problem with a Harley product? I was just trying to find out if this was something we needed to address on our bikes (19 CVO Street Glide and 18 SGS) or if someone was just trying to sell their product (vented dipstick).
@ProfessionalMonkey
@ProfessionalMonkey 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott, I am not being paid to say anything, Feuling just gave me the product. I would never say something I don't feel is true. I am shocked to hear that a dealer claimed to not know about this issue. Do you HAVE to do something? No. Right now any excessive oil that comes out of the breather bolts is pulled into the intake and burned. That causes the air your bike is burning to be hotter (less efficient) and oily, causing build up on your piston heads, eventually reducing power. This is just a way to improve the overall "health" of your motor. No one is trying to sell you anything, just a neat way to get rid of a design flaw.

@Dave B i installed the A1 Cycles Breather Dipstick, I have a 2011 CVO Road Glide Ultra with the TC Screaming Eagle 110 Stage ll 255 cams my issue was rear cylinder Extreme engine heat and my motor felt like it was forcing itself to run when it is fully warmed up, this from what a couple of Harley dealers told me is typical with the TC 110 Screaming eagle motor.I had no blow by at the air cleaner, once I installed the Breather I hit the highway for a 100 mile ride the motor did run Cooler and Smother there was no oil leaking from the beather, now A1 does recommend you take a little oil out of the tank which I did and the filter runs up between the cylinder heads. I did run by the Harley shop afterwards to get there Blessing which they did. Dave this worked for me in my situation do your Research as Jason says who knows it just might work for you!

Whatever you do, use the PREFERRED method that Feuling recommends or routing the hose and filter through the frame of your bike, not the method of just using the little screw filter that comes up from the top of the dipstick. I got lazy and just used the little screw filter method which was fast and easy but then I took off on an 1,100 ride over Memorial Day weekend and ended up with a bike full of grime and oil. The oil mists ever so gently out of the little screw filter but then collects on the bike which then collect dirt and grime from riding. It took me over an hour to clean up my bike from the oil residue and only about 10-15 minutes to hook the dipstick up using Feuling's PREFERRED method. Long story short...do yourself a favor and use the PREFERRED method instead of the quick and easy one. This is a great product but take the time and do it up right the first time or else you'll be cleaning up your bike from an oily mess and regretting not going the extra mile to begin with.

@@bobpatterson6052 The only "fix" the EPA would allow is the primary vent. It's part of the manufacturing process for '20+. If you have the '18-'19 look at the top/rear of your primary. If you have a rubber nipple coming out it's done. If not, take it in for the recall (won't cost anything). the recall is better than nothing, but the stick is better. Both work well together. I'd still vent the intake, even if not needed for blow by, just to keep dirty air and oil out of your combustion chamber.

Several of the Arlen Ness Air Cleaners, including the Big Sucker for Stock Cover include a catch reservoir which is not too difficult to clean out, when required. But you essentially have to first remove the filter element and stick your finger in the reservoir to see if it has caught any condensed oil. It's best to wick up any oil with a paper towel before removing the reservoir cover to prevent dripping.

Nicely engineered piece! Have running the Fueling Oil Dipstick Breather/Venting Kit on my 2020 SGS for about 2 months now; originally I had run it with the small breather (no hose and filter) for a few days and it was fine. I then decided to go with the hose and filter. Looped the hose up and over then down (same as Fueling's recommendation) and tied off the filter down under/between the trans and gearbox. Works excellent! The only item was a 0.050 tool for the set screw for clocking and then setting/locking down in place the final clocking (ended up going to Harbor Freight to get the tool, which was cheap...about $7 for a whole set of about 8 different sizes; of course only needed the 0.050" but they didn't sell just the one. Interestingly, I found a bag of 100 of these 0.050" online for $11.99; it would have been convienent if Fueling included the 0.050" tool for the set screw).

FYI- Even though I have the Fueling vented dipstick on my 2018 M8, I still get oily discharge out of my head breathers. So, I think it’s still best to do the cylinder head external breather if you don’t want that crap routed through your air intake. Maybe the Fueling vented dipstick reduces the amount coming out of the head breathers. But, in my case it was not completely eliminated.

won't the top hoses in the breather still put oil mist into the intake from the heads
@ProfessionalMonkey

Much much less. Since the pressure is being reduced at the bottom end it will push A LOT less oil out the breather bolts, therefore lowering the temp of the air being pulled into the throttle body, and burning less oil.
