Mick was a brilliant professor who brought archeology to the masses! I’m going to miss him. Wish I had him for an instructor.

One of my favorite programs, my 20 season course in archaeology before I started to actually study archaeology. Thank you!

In the old days on pre celeb sh**e TV it was people like Professor Mick Aston who put the Great in Great television, many of us prefer our TV with Brain's, Charm and a characterful personality this Professor Mick Aston had in Spades and Trowels.

Such a shame that he left the programme shortly before it's demise. Upset over the way it was heading. Especially the way they brought in the new "Eye Candy" presenter. That was when viewing figures really dropped off.

tectorama I was an avid viewer of TT, knowing that the personalities had done the job, in all weathers and done the job well. The new presenter, simply did not have the credibility.

I've clicked Like, but i don't know who you mean with the 'new Eye Candy presenter'

He's talking about Mary-Ann Ochota, co-presenter hot babe. Well educated in anthropology from Cambridge and an ex-model. Clearly though she was waaaay out of her element on this show and I can easily understand why the real professional archaeology lot didn't like that. Unfortunately, by the time she left the show, it was too late. Season 20 without her in it was more like the old shows, but clearly the magic was gone. Utterly destroyed by the "new production team" and their decision that what was needed was to spice it up with a bit of window dressing. Bad decision, but only one of many.

"Barking mad"......Wonderful. Awesome show. Wish the BBC would get it back on the air.....Maybe I could watch it as broadcast instead of on YT. Cheers from a American living in Germany.

Tony, Mick obviously understood religion perfectly. That's why he was a committed atheist (in his words).

I personally admire Time Team I even call it Tony Robinson's therapeutic effect, but without Mick, Robin and unfortunately Victor now I don't think TT will be that captivating. Reincarnate them please.

Mick had to learn and understand about Christianity and other religions because then he could understand the archaeology. Burial practices etc, understanding how other people live etc Tony is An Anti Royalists and socialist, didn't stop him becoming a millionaire and accepting a Knighthood though
