Time Team Teatime: Session 18
In this classic clip from the archive, Phil Harding and Paul Blinkhorn share their thoughts on the blues. UPDATE: We hadn't heard about Peter Green's passing at the time of posting, but we hope Phil's words act as a fitting tribute to the great guitarist.

There is only one Peter Green, lve watched him play live on 1982 November dominion theatre London, front row, to this day I've never heard or seen anyone play blues better than this man, black white or green for that matter

I grew up with this music and just wish I was with them chipping in with my favourites, my mate and I used to back to his house after a few pints and play a bit of led zep and fleetwood mac and listen to it with a wee carry out, oh the good old days, heaven

I hear Time team is coming back. I certainly hope Phil is a part of it. At least as a consultant. Im not an archaeologist but Phil Harting seems to have a sharp eye, and a sharp mind to go along with it. I really enjoy watching him fing and interpret stuff.

I heard Phil is busy digging the Waterloo battle site just now, along with helping injured ex servicemen to get involved in archeology...... but I heard that if he's able to fit something in amongst his other commitments, he has said he'll try to.... Although I think Carenza Lewis, Helen Geake, John Gator and Stewart the Geophiz guy are in on the new set-up...

I hope Phil can protect his back more these days so that he can enjoy all the rest of his years. Have him as consultant, host, whatever he chooses, but leave the heaviest work to the kids because I want our Phil happy & healthy ❤️

I'm from the US and am Phil's age (70), saw Peter's Fleetwood Mac with the Grateful Dead the night the latter got "Busted on Bourbon Street" which was also the first successful rock concert held in New Orleans (Jan 30th 1970). The police had run earlier bands out of town before they could play, but this show opened a new venue that then ran for many years hosting the best bands of the day. There was also an extra benefit show to raise money for the Dead's legal costs at which members of both bands jammed informally with Peter quite active in the musical discourse, I don't believe they had met before. I'm also a big fan of Danny Kirwan (RIP) who complemented Peter so well on songs like Coming Your Way, Although the Sun is Shining, Albatross and many others.

Dahenjo That must have been a great show. I too love the ‘original’ Fleetwood Mac with Danny Kirwan. He was such a sensitive soul.

Interesting you uploading this without knowing he'd died. I present a 60s show on our community station in Australia & played 2 tracks from the Hard Road LP lunchtime Saturday which would have been close to the actual moment. Very sad.

Phil: He is not known as a guitarist, but as someone who likes the blues, I hope you get a chance to check out Delbert McClinton. Especially his less commercially successful stuff. Thanks for your work too. A shitload of us miss TT. Frank
