This lady is brilliant and her political views right on! I am totally surprised to see this on FOX News of all places. Not only are private companies like dictators, but the way profits and taxes are done - we have to pay exorbitant prices to companies that are like taxes so that private companies can buy up and exert even more control over the government through regulatory capture, etc.

In Pennsylvania, employees have no rights. "An Employer/Boss can do anything short of physical violence to employees". I just verified that in Court, that was the Judges documented denial of a 'hostile work environment' claim against an employer. Welcome to the new USSR.

Something to really think about, on the one hand you have authority, the right to command others, and on the other hand autonomy, the right to self-command oneself. Bosses have the right to have command over the worker, and the worker has the right to command themselves. So how exactly is the authority of the boss consistent with the autonomy of the worker?

I don't know about sandwich making as a skill set, but ok. I work very hard at what I do, never complain, always early to work, never call in sick, get along with everyone, yet, there are bosses, especially women bosses who think it's ok to intimidate employees, and to make their lives miserable. I've had many of them, they actually think by intimidating employees, employees will respect them and that will raise productivity. It actually does the opposite, employees lose respect for them, they do the bare minimum work, and in the end they end up quitting. I have always found that when the boss isn't there things go smoother, the atmosphere in the office is calm, and employees are much happier, and more productive. Whenever I'm in this type of an environment, I always assess, the pay, and if it's worth getting stressed out for a small hourly pay, I don't want to get depressed, and unhappy either. Yes, I rather quit, because to me my health and happiness comes before any pay, especially if the pay is low. These bosses know very well how hard it is out there for employees to get jobs, and they take full advantage of it! Yes, I hate bosses, there are some nice ones, but they're a rarity these days. Most bosses nowadays are uneducated, they have no people skills, and are socially retarded, oh yes, and INSECURE and PARANOID, shit starters. They create a toxic environment in the job environment, this creates a culture of employees who just don't care, they do the bare minimum and get paid for it, because there is nothing in that place for them.

I call bullshit on her non-compete. You legally can't stop someone from working. Non-competes for sandwich workers...lol. Complete nonsense. You can't steal clients and information and go to a competitor but most employees can leave to a competitor, especially at any level below senior management.

10 percent of a companies employees account for roughly 80% of the profit. Is it any wonder they try to increase the ratio? Do they even know the ratio exists?

If she was talking about companies operating around the world then she is right there are in some countries major violations of worker rights. The normal process is to have laws that protect workers from abusive employers. But employment is a contract between employer & employee. Whilst it is true that some large companies have grown so large they dwarf countries and are in effect more powerful than some governments the vast majority of companies around the globe employ just a few workers. I think she needed to qualify her statements more carefully because she is giving a distorted view of reality which seems more political (especially in the words she was using). The companies she was talking about would probably be more suited to employing robots than people. Non compete clauses are about finding the balance between protecting the employers IP & investment in employee training vs employee rights of free movement between jobs & companies not training their workers but poaching staff from those that do.

How strange, just an hour ago I commented on a video of undercover factory work in the UK at JD Sports. Then I did my studies and read Anderson's 'What is the point of equality?' and I found myself completely disagreeing with her. So I decided to see if there was any interviews with her on here, and I find her saying the complete antithesis of what I said about the UK factory and hour ago. I guess we really do disagree. If you don't want a shitty job, get educated, get skilled and don't work a shitty job. If you can't get educated, or lack the ability to become skilled, be thankful that there are shitty jobs that will provide you with an income. No one gives you a guarantee that life will be equal and easy.

By "be thankful", do you mean that you shouldn't complain about abuse? This is a terrible argument anyway because these jobs NEED to be done. It's no safety net and people are unjustly punished for doing what you think is so far below you.

I study philosophy and I just had to read an article, which I totally disagreed with. It was written by this woman. She has some really stupid ideas. She thinks that if a non-insured driver was drunk and made an illegal turn, causing an accident with an innocent driver, then if both were seriously injured and there was only one hospital bed available, they have an equal claim. Er, no.
