Alright, now that we know what the subjunctive mood is used for, it's time to dive into those tenses! Let's start with the present subjunctive, as this will be used commonly. Don't worry, there are lots of examples so everything will sink in, I promise!

You have an erroneous form for the Present Subjunctive 1st person plural for the verb dire (arounf 6:20). It is not "[che] io dia", which as you rightly say is the form for dare, but rather "[che] io dica". As you say, the other persons follow the usual pattern from this one.

By "1st person plural" I of course mean "1st person singular"!

Thanks a lot Dave! I just wanted to add one more expression/phrase that is useful:" Spero che tu/lui/lei mi capisca"= I hope that you/he/she understand {s}me. The verb Capire can be very useful in sentences involving subjunctive; like when the teacher asks his/her students: I hope that you understand the lesson. ""Spero che voi capiate la lezione". Subjunctive mood Present che io capisca che tu capisca che lui, che lei capisca che noi capiamo che voi capiate che loro capiscano

Nel blu dipinto di blu , felice di stare lassu' e volavo, volavo felice piu' in alto del sole ed ancora piu' su. Mentre il mondo pian piano spariva lontano laggiu', una musica dolce suonava soltanto per me... Volare oh, oh, cantare oh, oh, oh

I just sent your Italian playlist to my daughter, a PhD candidate at UW. She spent a few summers in Italy with my parents but she is rusty. How come you have an unrecognizable northern accent when you speak? Time spent there or picked it up from your mother?

My parents are from Pisa and I learned the language by going there every year growing up, so I probably sound fairly Tuscan, although I don't speak impeccably as I'm American, it's just the best I can do!

How can I tell if 2 verbs, after che, in a dependent clause must be subjunctive? For example, Era ingiusto che lei DECIDESSE quale ristorante FOSSE il migliore. It was unfair that she decided which restaurant was the best. After CHE both verbs are subjunctive. Another example: E’ probabile che Paolo ABBIA FINITO i quadri che il suo amico VENDE nella sua galleria d’arte. It is probable that Paolo finished the paintings which his friend sells in his art gallery. This second verb is not subjunctive. Is there a rule when there is another verb after the first subjuntive verb. I’m very confused when there is another verb. Grazie mille. Sandy

There is a difference between the CHE following expressions triggering subjunctive (tutorial 101) and CHE introducing a relative clause. Subjunctive in a relative is more rare and it's used only when there is no reality expressed. Ex. Cerco una segretaria che (who) sappia parlare il russo (wish). As opposed to Conosco una segretaria che sa parlare il russo (reality). I hope it helps...

It's not, it's an error, it should say DICA - which he uses correctly in a sentence in one of his examples.

How about if both subjects are “she” but they referred to different people like if you wanted to say, “Maria hopes that Becky sings,” but you want to phrase it as “she hopes that she sings” referring to those two different women, respectively but calling them both “she?”
