This was SUCH a breath a fresh air to see two settled black gay men. In a marriage for a lengthy amount of time speaking articulately, thoughtful, and clearly about love, their relationships, and romantic relationships in general. THIS WAS EVERYTHING SAMPSON! I like the interview as well but every time they used the word queer I cringed. I’m a baby boomer as well. I have been together with my partner for 37 years. White gays started using queer and there nothing queer about me. I begin using SGL after listening to Dr. Cleo Manago and fully agreed with him. I realize they are young and unfortunately we lost so many older black SGL men that didn’t have the chance to pass the baton.

@@dandiméirsociety Well, I understand your take on the word..Being a baby boomer myself we all grew up with a certain understanding about what it means or meant both positive & negative to be S.G.L or gay...Over the years I 've grown to except their use of the word Queer...it's their time & they get to name how they want...I remember back in the day ,like in the 70''s it was only Gay & lesbians. Now it's LGBTQ+ Glad to see the Black LGBTQ committees thriving in the 21century..& hope they reach out to the LGBTQ+ communities in Africa & other parts of the African diaspora..!

I’ve watched this five or six times and i can’t help but become more and more aware every time i watch how rarely i see myself truly represented in media and even on social media and how black men loving each other is just not highlighted or promoted or even understood as an everyday occurrence and how that has shaped even my own understanding of myself and what i imagine is possible in terms of pursuing romantic relationships so i understand that statement you made about it being a revolutionary act. As one of them mentioned, although it’s very subjective, it’s nice to see a “normal”representation of gay black men who are honest and from what i can tell genuinely love one another.❤️💣🔥🙏🏾
