"You could do it on a floor, you could do it on the door, it doesn't matter. But it's better when it's dark." Just a universal truth for many subjects.

I'd never thought of using gel lifters for indentations on paper. What an underutilized tool I have in my bag! Thanks for your videos! I often search through them while at crime scenes (for e.g. The snow impression one).

you can tell someone is passionate about their line of work when like this guy says "look at this baby" for a finger print

I love using gel lifters to lift fingerprints. I have black and white gel lifters, and I use them with silver or black powder, depending of the colour of the surface. I'm glad I found you Seargent Mike ! Keep up! Greetings from a Romanian Forensic Cop :)

Hey, how does the lab examine these prints? I am told from a state and local lab, that gel lifts are not recommended due to problems examining.

I have heard this a few times and it is nonsense. The impression you lift will need to be reversed in a photo. That is as easy as Right click-->Reverse image. Done! This is the same technique if they use electrostatic lifts and some fingerprint lifts. They also make a gel scanner from BVDA. The labs that have a Gel scanner love them. The detail they can detect is amazing. Check out some of photos at BVDA.com to see what I mean. Thank you for watching. If you have any other questions, let me know.
