I normally use the Air Remote TTL but this device is very small and simple and very works well with small camera bodies and very simple one light setups for run and gun. You don’t need to use the phone app. Just flash comp in the camera or if you’re in manual then just walk over to the light and make the change on the light.

Thanks for sharing David. Instead of using the app, isn't it possible to use the flash exposure comp function in camera?

Maybe I’ll have to try that.

@@DavidOastler Please let us know if flash compensation on the camera will work with the A1. If it does that wound make it more versatile.

Yes it works fine in aperture mode

Interesting. I can see some beginners may like this if they don't might using the mobile phone to make the adjustments. I have the Godox setup where I can adjust the flash power right on the flash trigger. It would be nice if there are some kind of dials right on the trigger though.
@DavidOastler5 жыл бұрын
You can adjust the flash compensation in the camera easily

I’m wondering if you have the time to share how you set up your Sony when using flash? I know I must use mechanical shutter, but what else do you set up? EFCS on or off? Live view off? Preview settings etc? Thanks so very much!
@DavidOastler5 жыл бұрын
I just use wireless flash, EFCS is on as the Profoto flashes work fine with it on. Live view setting on I just turn off the transmitter when adjusting initial exposure. I then turn on the transmitter and use ttl to get close exposure. I then turn the transmitter to manual and adjust the flash exposure to match ambient light.

Hi David, what about the continious A1X LED light for videolighting: is it usefull enough in "emergency" cases when shooting video en have no other lights available in low light?
@DavidOastler5 жыл бұрын
Yes it works quite well for that.
@cdmurray235 жыл бұрын
having to use the phone seems really cumbersome IMO, prefer just having the settings on the transmitter

In my early testing the ttl is amazing so you will hardly have to use the phone

You can also just buy the air remote so you don’t have to use your phone.

David, I noticed the Imaging Edge Mobile app in you phone. Could you do it a review of it, setting suggestions, etc? I feel like I am not using it right for, very often, the location services simply do not show up despite camera being connected.

I must look into that.

Hello, David, I had a Canon camera and the Profoto A1 for canon, but I sold my Canon for a Sony A7III so my Profoto A1 is useless on my Sony! due to not the same hot shoe pins (no TTL), but can I use my Profoto A1 Canon flash off-camera with my Sony A7III and the new profoto connect for sony?

Probably the 400 pro but it is the only one with the continuous light that you can balance the colours

When I saw it I changed my mind. I will still use the air remote for most shoots but for run and gun shoots like weddings and events this is cool I also worked out that you can change the flash exposure compensation from the camera so you don’t need to use the iPhone at all and that was one of the issues I had with it.
