Dear Samaneri..thank you so much for sharing this precious Dharma teaching with us....I had no idea that The Theravada Forest tradition has such direct and profound teachings into the nature of Mind..I thought they were the preserve of the Dzogchen and Mahamudra teachings of the Mahayana tradition..this is a real eye opener and a mind opener..there is no veiled messages here or hidden knowledge... this is direct transmission into the inner workings of the samsaric mind...this teaching is indeed a blessing to those with ears to hear

Yes, indeed they do. These were the Masters who shunned the traditional rites, rituals and scholastic focus of the Buddhist religious institutions of their day. They headed alone to the forest to practice - as practice was not given priority - and thus discovered the Truth. And, surprise surprise, we find that the Truth speaks one language across all traditions in essence.

@@SamaneriJayasara Thank you for your reply...Yes !! that can be an issue with many religious based institutions where Rituals takes presidency over practice.. and as you know ritual will only take you so far on the path and are necessary however Meditation and enquiry into the nature of mind will get you closer to the truth but living a simple life in solitude will also assist this process like many great Yogi's and masters have done and continue to do

I'm so grateful for your dedication to this work. It serves me deeply. I've a hard time keeping up listening to every one I've no idea how you research find music and record so beautifully as often as you do, but I'm grateful. I live in a samkaya "Hindu"Ashram in the states but the monk allows for many practices and my main practice has been a vippassana style meditation. I wonder what your life there is like, very often. I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks Devorah - lovely to know you live in and with such an open minded community and can find a range of teachings that speak directly to you. In terms of the somewhat prolific nature of these recordings, these readings are essentially a central part of my daily meditation practice, so I figure whilst I read and reflect on them, why not record them at the same time. It happens and builds up the library easily that way. As far as the music goes, that just flows somehow. I have no idea how really but these creations just create themselves. I am literally a channel - a KZbin channel at that! If I was you, I wouldn't try to listen to every one of them or try to keep up, but rather just be led to the teachings that speak the most directly to your heart and provide the most clarity and inner peace. Everybody resonates with something different depending on such a wide range of factors, that's why I upload such a variety of wisdom traditions. With all good wishes in the Dharma

So you dont label anything when you meditate? I was told to label things so now i m feeling confuse... Some say i should note rising and falling and note thinking, sound, etc when I get caught up with something else than focusing on the breathing. What's your point of view on that? Just like the video said, to not label anything? Thanks so much for sharing all of this with us!!! Have a nice day!

There are many paths up the mountain, but the path is not the goal. Practice whatever technique works best for you and brings you peace of mind and helps develop insight. But don't get lost on the path by attaching to "technique". These are just fingers pointing to the moon, not the moon itself.

@@SamaneriJayasara thank you for your reply! I am a beginner meditator so it’s difficult and having so many different techniques don’t help!!! But listening to your voice and teachings really help!!! :) thank you!!
@SamaneriJayasara4 жыл бұрын
You're welcome. The simplest technique (which is not really a technique) is to just BE. Be present, be here now. If you find that difficult to do, grounding yourself in a gentle, relaxed mindfulness of the breathing can help. You don't need to note each in breath and out breath - maybe just for a while at the start - but then just be with it, the natural flow. The trick is not to let any meditation technique become mechanical and routine, otherwise your meditation practice will become dull and unpleasant. Being present and quiet within is beautiful and enjoyable and is your natural state, so allow yourself to arrive there naturally and easefully. Here is a recent upload which explains the approach very simply, directly, and clearly: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqnYcp5ohc-ilck&ab_channel=SamaneriJayasara With all good wishes in Dharma

@@SamaneriJayasara thank you so very much!!! This was truly so helpful. I was not noting the breath before, well I was just aware of it but then was told I should note it and it messed up my meditation... I just don’t like to note it repeatedly like that it feels like I m a machine doing it mindlessly! So I got confused as to what to do when meditating and what you wrote to just BE is really what I needed to hear! I will check the video you linked tomorrow! (It’s 2:30 am here in France haha so I should go to bed now!!! :) ) thank you soooo much!!

You could look at it as stages or steps. If you did label things, then this practice would be the next step. Then, you just note the arising and disbanding without them. The same with breathing. In some teachings, you are supposed to count the breaths to keep your attention fixed, but later on you drop that. I use it as an initial, calming focus for a period for calm abiding and then move on from there as per various investigations and practices.
