Thank you for this video. I watched this, and was able to modify a AB micro 1200 malfunctioning output, to an unused one, restoring a machine to operation. Boss is very impressed. I think I saved his butt in more ways than just the pocket book. You do terrific videos, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience!

Thank you, Tim, This will be helpful to me as I am learning to program a Start/stop of a pump from level and low-level switches signals.

Excellent! Check out this video that operates a lead lag pump setup based off of level switches. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mquui2eNrauMj6s

I’m having a problems with my software, I can’t add any output or rung from my bar, my professor told me is something about compatibility of my screen. Do you have any idea how to fix it? I appreciate your help. Thanks

Are you online? If so, it the PLC in RUN mode? You won't be able to make online changes if it is not in REM.

Great Videos Tim - can you please make or point to existing video on how to read existing ladder logic program and make sense. I keep running into circles and waste lot of time.

That can be tough. I'm going to start reviewing PLC program, the first one being my very first program. Tentatively that live be a live stream on 6/10/2021 so make sure you are subscribed so you will know the date and time when I post it.

@@TimWilborne Subscribed. Thank you. This video was very helpful in visualizing the bit instructions. I like the idea of playing with bit instructions and lights and toggle to understand them how they work. I will get needed hardware and start configuring my 1756 :)

You mentioned in program mode even if there is a 1 in the data table for the output the plc doesn't physically turn on that output unless it's turned on elsewhere. Would that be used in programming for a power failure to make a powered on output the default in certain situations?
@TimWilborne3 жыл бұрын
I'm not following you. In a power failure, the PLC and outputs would be "off". If you wanted to signal to something else that the power is off, you would need to use a normally closed relay.
@benedalati1527 Жыл бұрын
if I use a BASE tag to mimic an internal relay how do i do the wiring to make it work. I can do it with a real relay but not with an internal bit (BASE). Thanks

Use a BOOL data type

Do you have a video example using this with MCR?
@TimWilborne Жыл бұрын
Do you mean a physical MCR (Safety relay) or the instruction. Honestly, I haven't seen an MCR instruction used in decades in a PLC program.

Do you have an explanation of .C vs .Data? Just wondering because I'm new to studio 5000 and I'm altering PLC code on a program where the guys used .C for some reason. Everything I find people use .Data... So I'm wondering the difference.
@TimWilborne2 жыл бұрын
It gives you access to the same information that you can find on the configuration tab of the module properties.
