I love the little POI's you've developed for your destinations - adds so much personality to both the characters and the locations! My imagination started wandering as I was watching - do you have any plans for a day/night cycle? I imagine the city lit up and night would be a really pleasant sight. Inspiring work as always!
@modsbymorgue78083 жыл бұрын
If he adds day cycles the possibilities are endless. Entities could have time based jobs, work routes, etc. where they travel to a certain building and go inside for n hours. Night cycle with a cozy dim ambience, and maybe slightly altered behaviors would be amazing (less cars, entities going into their home for the night, etc.)

It's incredible how you always manage to get away with avoiding skeletal animations for your characters and use basic transformations instead. It already worked really well in Equilinox and it also seems to turn out really nice with this project! Also, it's great to see that you're back and well. I'm really amazed by the progress on the game, all these dynamic behaviors from the cars and people make the city look so alive! PS: Have you seen Randy's latest video? You've been "featured" in it ;)

I really think that this activity sistem is something that not only makes the town feel alive, but also makes the player feel much more connected with their townsfolk, unlike simcity or cities skylines.
@kirillvoloshin20653 жыл бұрын
I have always been impressed with the quality and atmosphere of your content! When I started watching your videos, I knew almost nothing about programming, but about a month ago have made a pretty simple pathfinding project in another language. It just choses the shortest possible route to connect two elements (it tries to build a connection from an Object - key is the id of the current element, with arrays - ids of possible next elements coming directly after this one). It's only involves SVG, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and SQL (route data is saved into the Postgres database). Much love!
@SilverlyBee3 жыл бұрын
It's looking really good! This part about the little people of the town having lives of their own kind of reminds me of Spellcaster University, it's basically a school builder and the students and teachers have lives of their own and go to the different rooms that you build to do their activities. Yours is really cute! Makes you imagine all the lives these little guys have

I have been watching your work on your Trello board. Really inspiring stuff. I've always wondered what it would be like to make a city-builder from scratch. As others have mentioned seeing you work on this really makes your imagination go wild. I'm over here thinking about trains, and the different mechanisms you could add in. Economy from their jobs to: Home Improvement, Real Estate, Land Value, food tickets for businesses. Person can go to home improvement store to buy a new decoration/paint for their house where they have nodes on their house to place decorations. Decorations are random and/or based on what their neighbors have. You'd end up with a game where the buildings are truly unique. A game more about the people, and less about their mayor and his noisy blue bird.

8:45 Thanks a ton for mentioning these easing functions - that's exactly what I needed for a problem I'm currently facing on my personal project! My UI panels move around when it's game over, but the movements were very jarring, y = x linear movements. You mentioning those functions led me to using the easeInOutSine function for a great, smooth result. For what it's worth, I'd very much appreciate more technical content in the future in these dev logs - they can be great for learning! Thanks for making them, regardless! :)
