Thank you for posting this video, I too have a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.7 V6 GLS; however, my Santa Fe does not have the Off/Set switch on the ETACS, there is blank space there. I do have power locks but apparently sometime in 04 they stopped installing that switch in lieu of the channel scan.

I have the same year/model Santa Fe as shown above. I bought a brand new OEM keyfob. I gave your method a shot, several times. No luck. I am guessing that perhaps brand new Hyundai keyfobs have some differences in the circuitry. Even an auto locksmith couldn't figure out the coding. I ended up having to bring it to the dealer to program it.

Purchased a 2006 Santa Fe 2.7L on Saturday and the correct remote (separately) on Sunday, only to find out there is no switch on my ETACS unit and after much going over this on the net, it turns out that this feature was removed on most production run 2004 & 2005 Santa Fe's and all 2006 and above. Now only someone with an ODB Programmer can do it, unless you get an older ETACS unit (I can't think that is a good idea to mismatch them with your vehicle model year) or go to the Hyundai dealer.

Thank you for a very helpful video -- the Hyundai dealer wanted $145 PER FOB just for programming! Your video got me pointed in the right direction. After some trial and error, here is what worked for me. 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS 2.7L (manufactured August 2002). In my vehicle, the alarm system memory switch is behind the fuse box (to left of brake pedal). • Do not put key in the ignition. • Move memory switch to SET. • Close car doors (not sure if this matters). • Press and HOLD the LOCK button on the FOB until the flashing red lights cycle TWICE. • Repeat for other fob. (I was only able to program 2 fobs; I’m not sure if the 3rd fob is dead, or if only 2 fobs can be programmed.) • Open car door so you can get back under the dash and move the memory switch to OFF.

***** Thank you, The programming shown in this video is for OEM keyfobs supplied by Hyundai or similar affiliates. However, after some searching I found a (possible) way to reprogram the vauxhall keyfob. "1. Sit in the car with doors closed. Place the key into the ignition and turn to Pos II (lights on)2. Now press the lock button on the key remote with the key still in the ignition for about 2 secs3. The central locking will now lock then unlock to show the remote control is now synchronized" This is assuming the keyfob was originally programmed to the Santa fe. Hope this helps!

@thebasicdiyguy90154 жыл бұрын
Some could have been removed and replaced with aftermarket modules. Furthermore, it is entirely possible they can be located somewhere else than the two positions I mentioned but I wouldn't know where they could be. For the location under the dash I assume you mean behind the dash (radio). If so, when you remove the radio and climate control panel it would be bolted/tied down on the side of the inner dash. It would be hard to miss.

@@mariusrotaru3026 Hi Marius, now that I read your reply to my question I honestly think the actual switch has been removed/broke off. It's not a button but a switch/toggle. If you see a opening try to put a needle/toothpick and force it the other way. Also, yes the fob has to be a Hyundai remote for this to work. Another solution and this may not be favourable as not everyone can afford a new remote system but is to buy a 3rd party remote/starter and use that instead of OEM. Yes it should as it's a 1st gen

I can't find my alarm box thing in my '06 Santa Fe. I don't wanna start pulling the radio area apart, but I'm close. Real close. Any idea?
@thebasicdiyguy90157 жыл бұрын
Those are the only two locations unless it was moved or concealed. I have some free time coming up and will make a video on how to remove the climate control/radio area. I promise it's a easy task lol.
@matthewridley13307 жыл бұрын
That would be most excellent. I mean, I just bought the car off someone that never had keyless entry, but I really want a fob, so I'm determined. I feel like I could just start popping out some screws around the radio area and see if I can figure it out - But I am now subscribed to your channel because you're awesome.

Hello. I manually reset my Hyundai Santa Fe 2009 ECU by disconnecting the battery terminals after that the engine won't start but it was cranking. do you have any idea what happened? thanks
@faraosaam9 жыл бұрын
would this work with newer cars? lets say 2014 elantra
@thebasicdiyguy90159 жыл бұрын
+faraosaam Unfortunately not, they require you to go to the dealership/locksmith to have it done for you (aka more ways to make $)

I must be too dumb or something. I have 2 Remotes. 1 working and a new one that i need to program. Now i follow the steps like in the video, except that i push on both remotes the "lock" key one after the other. But the new one still is not recognised, only the old one ist (still) working as it should... Any idea?
@thebasicdiyguy90159 жыл бұрын
Is the new one a OEM remote? or aftermarket?

Hi... do u think it will work on a hyundai matrix 05, i have one working remote, and just bought a new one on the internet (not hyundai) which id like to have as a spare... do i have a chance ?
@thebasicdiyguy90158 жыл бұрын
+Roberto Javier Casalderrey I assume you are in Europe or S.America as we don't have a Matrix here. However, if you do find the module you can try it.

+The Basic DIY Guy do you know where the 2003 elantra "set off switch "?
@thebasicdiyguy90158 жыл бұрын
The elantra has it internal in the system. Not like the Santa fe.
@abdumka8 жыл бұрын
The Basic DIY Guy by internal you mean that there is no switch or the switch is hidden ?
@thebasicdiyguy90158 жыл бұрын
I mean there is no switch. Needs to be reprogrammed by locksmith or dealership. I recommended you buy an aftermarket.
@raulc97889 жыл бұрын
Can that remote program to a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe? And where did you buy it?

Actually I found it today! I couldn't see it 'cause there were a few things in the way. I actually had to use my cellphone to take blind pictures under the steering wheel until I realized that switch was there. My KeyFob will arrive on Saturday and I'm excited to program this thing!!

+Gene Lilley Hi, did you check in the climate control console?
@thebasicdiyguy90159 жыл бұрын
***** Correct. The console that contains the climate control panel is another location where the module is located.
@thebasicdiyguy90159 жыл бұрын
+Gene Lilley Listen from 0:30 to 1:03. I say that the alarm module is either in the climate control panel or under the steering wheel. If it's not under the steering wheel than it should be inside the climate control panel. Obviously I tell you to look under the steering wheel as it takes two seconds to just put your head down and see as opposed to opening up the climate panel. Hope this clears any confusion.

Unfortunately not, Hyundai removed the module from that generation so you're forced to go to the dealer or key programmer.

Praveen Bhasker From what I have gathered that version of the Elantra needs to be programmed by the dealership or locksmith.
