Progressive 412 Series Shocks Review www.revzilla.co... 412 Series Shocks represent a killer value in the world of performance suspension. With subtle good looks and ride quality that will knock your socks off, the 412 is a super-affordable way to step into Progressive quality without breaking the bank or buying 'more shock than you need'. If you want to improve the ride and get aggressive in the corners for short coin, the 412 might be just what the doctor ordered.

2013 RoadGlide Ultra with stock air shocks. (Horrible). Always bottom out and get wheel hop in turns. Very unsafe. Looking at the 412’s in heavy duty. Would like to lower an inch but don’t want to sacrifice ride. Should I stay with 13”? Do a lot of 2 up riding. Most of the wieght is me over 300, totaling around 450. Plus gear. Your recommendation?

The shocks come with a black and round hard plastic part that sits on top of the shock and around the chrome shaft. The plastic part turns. Does that plastic part come off or does it stay on before mounting the shocks? Hope this question makes sense.

Lemme. Just added them to my 97 magna. Easy like you say. One tip to add . Put the bottom screw on first. Sounds backwards but if you do it the other way, it's gonna be a beech. Might take 6 🍻 🍺. I found out the hard way. And now I know better.

I have a 2011 Harley Ultra Limited with 67000 miles and they go up a lot every day. Unfortunately the rear air shocks are just worn out from the miles and the bike rides pretty bad regardless of what pressure I put in them. I want to upgrade to a better shock but I do not want to spend loads of money. I ran across these but it seems like there are a couple other models of springs actually "intended" for a true touring bike like my ultra. But I am not in the market to spend 400+ on springs so these have grabbed my attention. The bike finder says they fit my bike but I am curious if these more budget friendly springs would truly be enough for my big tourer. I ride 2 up about half the time. I am right at 200 lbs and my wife is about 130. There is always junk in the tour pack and the side bags. I am more concerned with a smooth ride and less concerned with handling as most of our miles are either out on the highway or on older rough "down town" roads. Will these do the trick for me? Thanks.

If you're replacing those shocks, you really shouldn't skimp on these 412s for a full dresser. I've conferred with some of the Harley gurus here, and the consensus is that you'd want the 444s at the least. Better yet, they really recommend the 13" Standard Duty Legend Revo Shocks. Yes, they're expensive, but they have a lifetime warranty, and the quality is top notch. If it's too steep, though, I can only recommend sticking with what you already have. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/legend-suspension-revo-coil-shocks-for-harley-touring-2000-2015

I recently bought a used 2013 road glide. I noticed one of the rear shocks was leaking oil when i got it home. I bought an ebay airride kit as i need to lower it with the big ultra seat on i am up on the balls of my feet . The airride kit rides horrible. Im looking for an option that gets me a little lower and at least as good of ride as stock. Im 225 and ride 2up close to 50% of the time. @RevZilla
@RevZilla 7 жыл бұрын
Hey David! Drew is out on vacation so I wanted to respond to your message. With your riding characteristics, I recommend sticking with the standard version. Given your weight, the heavy duty option would likely be overly harsh when riding solo. As for the length, I believe the stock length of the Forty-Eight is 11.5 inches. Most have found going to 13 inches to be a positive change, but any time you change geometry, it will noticeably affect the handling of the bike. You may want to give Progressive a shout to see what they recommend. You can reach them at 714-523-8700. Would i have enough, so rear tire wont hit the fender? - Which one is softer or more comfortable on the humps? - which would you recommend me going for? - My wight is around 75-80kg (172 lbs) and i do carry a passenger which his wight is around 60-65kg (150lbs), therefore, would you recommend me to go for the heavy duty of the standard? - And for that wights what should be the pre-load level on those suspension whether its on a solo ride or with passenger? thanks,

For those small shocks I’d get something a bit better than 412. I bet they would improve but if you spend a little extra you could get a lot better. This is based on what I read not first hand experience. Like a 944 series ultra low from progressive.

m4s2firestorm hit the nail on the head. The 412 are more for changing the look of your bike, not upgrading the ride quality. The cheapest option I recommend from us that gives better ride quality would be the Drag Specialty option: www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/drag-specialties-ride-height-adjustable-shocks-for-harley That said, when it comes to suspension you absolutely get what you pay for and bumping up to something like the 444 will help make your ride smoother and more enjoyable: www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/progressive-444-series-shocks-for-harley I hope that helps! -Zack

From Progressive's website: *Target Ride Length:* 11.00 - _"Target Ride Length is the length of the selected shocks, installed, and as measured between the upper and lower shock mounts, when the full weight of the rider(s) & gear are on the bike and ready to ride. This is a fast and easy way to set your rear suspension at optimum Ride Sag (1/3 of total suspension travel)._ _With the shocks selected above installed and the full weight of the rider(s) & gear on the bike as it will be ridden, measure the distance between the upper and lower shock mounts (center to center). If your measurement is less than the indicated Target Ride Length, increase the spring pre-load to raise the bike until you achieve the Target Ride Length. If your measurement is more than the indicated Target Ride Length, reduce the spring pre-load to lower the bike until you achieve the Target Ride Length. Achieving the Target Ride Length in this manner sets the rear suspension ride sag for optimum performance and comfort."_ Hope this helps! -DrewZilla

Hey did you put these on your bike? I have a 2015 1200T super low and I’m looking into replacing my shocks possibly with the progress of 412s. I’ll probably go a 13 inch as I’m 6 foot tall and would like to change the ride height a bit. Please let me know what you went with. Thanks...

Low end made offshore? Touring air shocks for the 16 road king were horrible. We’re they manufactured in China?

Are these Better than stock ones on 2017 Iron 883? Can I get a lower drop with these? Thanks.

Yes, these are better than the stock shocks. You cannot get a lower drop, though, because your stock shocks and the shortest 412 shocks are 11 inches. If you go with shorter shocks, you'll have a rough ride. -DrewZilla

I have a 2012 1200 custom. I weigh 165. What size do you recommend?
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 7 жыл бұрын
At 165, you'd definitely want standard duty springs. As for length, your stock shock length is 11.5". If you like your ride height, stick with that length. You could also easily go down to 11" or up to 12". -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/progressive-412-series-shocks-for-harley-sportster-2004-2017

I have a 2003 Road King with stock air shocks. Want to go lower so which length would you suggest?

Your stock shock length should be 13 inches. If you want to go lower, I'd recommend 12 inches. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/progressive-412-series-shocks-for-harley-touring-1984-2005

I have a 03 roadking and just got done installing 412 12" in the rear and progressive 1" drop cartridges in the front. My weight is 230 and went with standard duty rear shocks. So far I like the set up.

I am 5'9" with short inseam. Also have thicker Mustang touring seat so I sit higher. Was thinking I needed to go 11" on the shocks. Thoughts? Right now I just miss being flatfooted on the ground while sitting on the bike by about 1/2-1"

@@rocketman71863 I would suggest putting a 1" piece of plywood on the floor and sit on the bike and you will know if the drop will work. Personally I would not drop more than 1". And the standard duty shocks will be enough for you also.
