I can't thank you enough for explaining this. I've worn glasses most all of my life, and today was my first experience with progressive lenses... Your drawing was even more helpful because I thought there was something wrong with my lenses because of the blur on the lower sides... Thanks again!

I'm curious to know why the middle range and reading range cannot extend across the entire lens just like the distance part of the lens does. Why do those side blurry areas need to exist at all? And I understand there is a digital progressive lens and a free form digital lens. What is the difference. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Doctor. I was having a little problem with my progressive glasses that I even thought to take them back. Now that I saw your video I know I have to wait a week or so to get used to them...

A matter of choice. I confirm 20/20, on my Snellen. Use a plus lens for all close work. Plus lenses did not cost $400. No bifocal, no line, no problem. Thanks! Easy!

I agree. I got them about 2 months ago and have worn multifocal contacts for about 6 years. I decided I needed a backup pair of glasses and went for progressives with premium lenses. The central zone for computer is very lacking. Almost gives me a headache to try to find the narrow corridor where the intermediate lies. I usually just throw readers over them or put my contacts back in. I would rate them a C-

Thank You! Excellent explanation of this for me. I got overloaded with the info given to me at the eye glass store the other day getting glasses for the first time. A little concerned that I spent $900 on 2 pairs of glasses (Sun/regular progresssives) without really understanding them, all i was told is it would take some time to adjust to them.

this was helpful, particularly with the diagram. I just got mine and didn't realize there was an intermediate section and i was concerned how i would see if it wasn't using close up or far away area of the lens. I do "swim" when i move my head too much but can see how i will adjust if i stick with it.

Thanks for the video. I just got my progressives and it's exactly as you said. The computer vision is a bit distorted on the sides. I hope it improves. It's only been an hour.

I love progressive lenses. I've been wearing them for at least 6-7 years now. The only pitfall for me is that I can not look through my glasses at all while walking down a long flight of stairs. I either look directly down or take my glasses off altogether.

Thank you, good info. Is there any alternative to bifocal or progressive lenses? Like using regular shortsightedness lenses and owning an extra pair of reading glasses? Are there any lenses that has the functions or can be use for shortsightedness an computer reading at the same time? Thanks.

I have not got a decent pair of glasses in over 15 years. I think the quality is not as good as it use to be. Been wearing glasses for 40 years.
