Speaking of Zeiss... they have an eye-vision check-up questionnaire on their site. ANd what's striking is, if you answer the questions reasonably, they'll tell you what pair or pairs of glasses you are most in need of. And they do that, without advicing you to get optionals, and more expensive types of lenses, that you don't need (You'll get advice to get basic lenses, if your vision has next to no problems).

I’m a low presbyope (Add 1.50) and I’ve tried various designs of varifocal. Essilor, Kodak etc, but I just keep coming back to my Zeiss SL digital lenses - they really are a work of art! I know the maximum add is 1.25, but due to the ultra low distortion they’re sharper than any of the others. I don’t understand why they aren’t considered suitable for 40+? In my opinion, they’re unmatched!

Hello Thank you for video I would like to ask what is mechanism of action of digital lenses to eye’s muscles which helps to avoid CVS I mean how these lenses are helping?
@thespectaclefactory
@thespectaclefactory Жыл бұрын
When we focus up close, the cilliary muscles have to work. Constant switching to our phones can stress the cilliary muscles, and a digital lens provides accommodative magnification so the cilliary muscles don't have to work so hard.

For me, the Eyezen is a game changer, I had severe headaches probably because I work on a computer all day. I went from BBGR Asphor 1.67 Nevamax UV to Eyezen Start Stylis Alize Prevencia 1.67 (Right Eye -2.50 ( -0.75) 180° ; Left Eye -3.75 ( -0.25) 160°) From what I understand, Eyezen Start are just single aspheric lenses with boost at the bottom of the lense to reduce eye strain) I don't get why people say, Eyezen are just a gimmick. On the other hand, Eyezen Boost are more like progressive lenses, they're the same as Start but they add boost to the lenses like +0.4/+0.8. Maybe, if you really need progressive lenses, just get Varilux Digitime

What’s the difference between digital glasses and varifocal glasses?
@thespectaclefactory
@thespectaclefactory 3 жыл бұрын
Good question. Varifocals have 3 zones (distance/intermediate/close), for people whose eyes need more help focussing on near objects. Digital lenses have 2 zones (distance/close) for people who just need a little help focussing at near. Hence why digital lenses tend to be suitable for 20-40 year olds and varifocals tend to work better for those over 40. Did you see my varifocal video for comparison? kzbin.info/www/bejne/nYe4kqGNepenetk&

Hi, Rob. I am in my mid-40s, near-sighted (-1.50 in both eyes), and have gotten to the point where I sometimes need to take off my glasses to read small text. I also use computers most of the day. Looking at your reply down below, it seems like I might benefit more from Digital, but based on your comments in the video, it sounds like you tend to lean people more toward Varifocal if they meet the criteria I am describing here? Hi Susan, it would depend on your add and whether you're struggling on the computer or just your smartphone/reading? Generally if your add is less than 1.00 you should be fine with Digital, but it depends on a few factors which are hard to predict.

Hi, thanks for directing me to this video following my previous comment. I'm still interested to know how this "digital focus" is achieved compared to the ADD at the bottom of a varifocal lens. It seems very similar. I'm definitely inclined to think these are the lenses for me though with such a small ADD and the difference in price. Thanks
@thespectaclefactory
@thespectaclefactory 3 жыл бұрын
Basically, with progressive or varifocal lenses, there is a constant change in power from the distance zone as you go lower in the lens. That's why they are great for people who need help at multiple distances - usually those with a 1.50 add or greater (but this is not always true!) With digital lenses most of the lens is set for distance vision with a small portion at the bottom to help with close focussing. So, Varifocals: 40% Distance, 30% Intermediate, 30% Near Digital: 80% Distance, 20% Near Hope that makes sense

Is it possible for the lens to be adjusted so that a greater allocation/area is given to the far distance portion of the lens? While decreasing the reading area? I just recently got a pair of zeiss digital lenses but I'm confused as to how I'm supposed to be using the while on the computer. Am I using the lower half or upper half when looking at the computer screen? They both look similar to me but I to see some sort of change when I go back and forth from top and bottom but I can't tell what's happening. My optometrist said the anti fatigue lenses would be good for my eye strain when looking at the computer but my optician said they're for looking at my smart phone. My perscription is -0.50 and add +0.75 if that helps...
@thespectaclefactory
@thespectaclefactory 2 жыл бұрын
This is a very common question. With such a low add, you should find viewing the screen at arms' length or further fine through the top section of your lenses. The bottom is really just for close focussing. It's kind of the point that you don't really notice the difference between the two powers - that is intentional and makes them easier to adapt to.

You're welcome :) i.Scription isn't a lens type. It can be incorporated into almost any Zeiss lens and it is essentially a more accurate prescription so the lenses can be made more precisely for your eyes. @@thespectaclefactory They took it by marking 2 dots on the lens. The told me to look straight then use a marker pen to draw 2 dots on the center of each lens (one left and one right). Hopefully I will be able to adjust within the next few days to weeks because I spent quite a lot on this pair of glasses. On the other hand, I love how thin the Zeiss lenses are, with my high prescription of ~ -9.0, it didn't protrude out of my frame like my other lenses did. Thx for replying.

@@ayanokojisenkuhow is it treating you so far? I have exactly the same issue. The guy told me to look down, not my usual posture, then he took 2 dots manually. When i got my glasses, it’s way too blurry as i only have little space for the distance vision zone compared to enormous near vision zone.

@@idin10abruh I ran into the same issue. My old lens from vision works I can see further away from one eye, but my other eye got worse with astigmatism so I have to stick with the new Nikon lenses. I had to get them remade cause I ran into similar issue like yours. I still can’t see further away like my old ones but at least my right eye isn’t tired as much. Prob going to look for alternatives or use contacts

@senku_Jo hi, thanks for sharking your experience - I'm considering them myself but this is my biggest concern - that everytime I look down, the distant vision will be blurry, and instead I'd have to move my head all the time (not sure if less eyes movement is that good for the muscless btw). How is your experience right now? Have you managed to adapt to these lenses, or have you given up on them? It is surly great to rest while on the computer, but I want to feel comfortable and natural while looking further and while moving (dancing, running etc.)

Will these digital lenses be a better alternative to progressive if you absolutely can't wear progressives . I'm 50 , never had glasses and were prescribed progressive. I just can't work in these or use the computer as the intermediate area is basically unusable. I'm returning them and going to single vision.
