Wow, that was a great video. Thank you for taking the time to show us to thread in the screws a bit first. Excellent way to keep the diaphragm perfectly aligned.

Thanks for watching! Yeah that's a great tip that someone showed me about 15 years ago. It's a great valve, but a little tough to rebuild because of the screws having to go through the diaphragm.

Super Detailed, and just what I needed for a summer time sprinkler repair project. Thanks for taking the time to put this video out!

Great video on a table top......it is soooooooo difficult to do, crouched in the bushes, and cra* everywhere.....but thanks for the tip about that little nub.....that helps line up the hole for the solenoid stem.....thanks.

Great video. I have 5 of these in my backyard that worked great for years. Now one circuit only operates at about 1/4 to 1/2 flow. Tried turning the flow control to no avail. Replaced solenoid and only starts with bleed screw or turning the solenoid but then doesn't shut off when the timer does. I had to crank the flow control all the way in to get it to shut off. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi there! I would just rebuild the valve and put in all new diaphragm, bonnet, solenoid, etc. That's assuming that you're sure there's not a downstream leak or obstruction in the pipe. It's not the easiest valve to rebuild, but I would do that before you replace the whole valve.

No downstream issues, sprays fine on bleeder valve. Just hate to have to replace the top parts on a valve a foot below ground in a single circular box, but I'll give it a try. Don't want to dig it up in its setting. Thanks for the reply.

@@randybaylor7750 I feel your pain. I had to rebuild one of these last week. Unfortunately I had to dig it up, at least a foot deep, right beside a tree captured in roots. Not fun.

What if it leaks from the knob? Is that repairable or do I need to by the whole valve?? Thx
@Proirrigationtraining9 ай бұрын
You definitely have to replace the bonnet or top half of the valve. Sometimes you can find the separate parts of the Irritrol valves, but most of the time you have to buy a new valve and use the bonnet off it.

I went to replace my diaphragm and the head to one screw snapped off. What can I do?
@Proirrigationtraining Жыл бұрын
Oh dang, sorry. You probably have to replace the whole valve in that situation.

One zone not working - I put in a new set of guts , top and solenoid into the existing valve - it works now ONLY with the bleed valve open - and now it is on when any zone is on. I close the bleed and its off all the time. Any ideas?

Hi Joel. There's a good chance that the valve body has some debris in the small orifices that make the solenoid work. Take a pipe cleaner or something similar and push through those openings. That's assuming that you've already checked the electrical. But here's a low-tech way to check; take the solenoid out of the valve and have someone turn the zone on at the timer. If you don't see or hear the solenoid actuating, you have an electrical issue.

@@Proirrigationtraining Thanks ! I think its an electrical problem - getting some bad readings. I am going to replace the cable from the control box to the valves and make all clean new connections - a lot of corrosion found and varying resistance measurements.
@Proirrigationtraining8 ай бұрын
@@joelbahl6830 Good troubleshooting there! Any time you see some corrosion on the wires, you know there could be a problem. Of course, checking the electrical connections can indicate a problem. I'll always lay the wires out on the ground and hook everything up before I dig anything in.
@joelbahl68308 ай бұрын
@@Proirrigationtraining All good now - ran all new wires to the controller and a separate line to the master valve. No junction box outside now to get corroded. Thanks again.

@@joelbahl6830 Glad you got it sorted. Sometimes it's all you can do. At least with a new wiring bundle, you know it's done right and where everything is for the future.
