I always pay tech to do this part- he has a guarantee! When it won't play right- I take it back. Great concept! My horns stay where he puts them, I'm always on top of the game! I loved your air torch for getting old pads off.

Looks good. I just don't like the use of those pliers. The teeth will damage the finish on keys.

Thanks. I like the idea of using the hot air gun, instead of a burner.

Hello, tell me why you, after installing the pillow, release the valve with the pillow into the water. What effect does it have? thank!

Why in to the water? May be I should improve for that. Reason why was to avoid damage to the Pad with Heat. That was very high temp more than I estimated, so I dipped in to water. So I recommend Glue adding Pad firstly then attach to the Brass

Take a small pin needle vise and poke a hole in the side of the pad between the felt and cardboard. This allows heat inside to escape the pad leather. It also won’t show after installation because it’s below the pad cup rim (waterline). A lot of techs do this to avoid warping or puffing up the pads while heating the cup/shellac.

In Guyana South America where l live thereis no shellac . We use an adhesive called evo stick or another brand called contact cement.

Thanks All ! I bought the materials PAD and shellac from musicmedic.com Below is I inquired before about shellac to musicmedic. Please refer that. ************* We recommend using two sticks of shellac for the a complete repad. The melting temperature is usually around 300 to 350 if you are using the air torch. We always recommend using the Clear Shellac because the consistency is better when melted and provides an ample amount of time to dry so seating the pad is easier. *********** Regards

Hi all. What adhesive do you use to glue the pads? Can hot-gun glue be used?
@TooSlowTube7 жыл бұрын
It's normally done with shellac. It might be possible to do it with a hot glue gun, but there could be problems getting the temperature right, so it flowed properly and didn't set unevenly. I don't have a lot of experience of doing it at all but I've done it by heating shellac in the key cup til it melted. It can be messy if you use too much, but on the whole, it's not all that hard to work with. It's quite cheap to buy too. I bought it in the form of flakes. For some reason, those were cheaper, and they probably melt easier than using a stick of shellac.

I'm not entirely sure you really want to get to pad soaked
