Hi, Dr Kev. I would use a folded sheet aluminium, riveted, and glued together for the monocoque. Using the sports 2000 racing car from the late 1977 to 1984 as a basis for design and concept. The most important thing to choose is the wheel & tire combination you would like to use as drives the location and size of the suspension.

Those sports 2000 cars are fantastic, have a good friend that used to race one now and then. A folded sheet monocoque is definietly an option, a lot cheaper materials wise than going moulded carbon. Definitely will be running through wheels and tyres in upcoming videos.
