@@TheAlienNerd. I can only speak for myself, but Canada is ok? I am in one of the most conservative areas of the country though and it feels like we're sliding back on a lot, especially on transgender issues. (I loathe policy 713) There are pockets of homophobia and transphobia, but overall it's manageable. With my distaste of where the country is headed in general, I never recommend anyone immigrate here. It's not worth it. There are better countries in Europe you can head to. If you don't have the means to travel far, it's better than the US at least. In my opinion, Canada no longer has good healthcare with the way everything is so mismanaged. The only benefit is that most needed hospital services are covered but good luck finding a family doctor. Wait times for anything medical are atrocious. Again, this is only just my thoughts after living here for 33 years and in the unhappiest province. Your mileage may vary.

Yeah for LGBTQ+ folks Canada is a strong YMMV, and we’ll see what happens when PP gets elected. I am disabled and have undiagnosed health problems; recently left the country, but in NS I had a four-year wait to see one more specialist before my options were basically ‘suck it up or get MAID’. For LGBTQ chronically ill Americans looking to leave, see if there’s any way for you to make it to the EU instead, or at the very least try your hardest to get any undiagnosed problems named before you go to Canada!

Every part of Project 2025 horrifies me. And a lot of people don't realize that it's already under way in the red states, in recent Supreme Court decisions, and in budgets and legislation going through Congress. As someone who is bi+ AND trans AND a policy expert who has been doing policy work for more than 20 years, this is a nightmare scenario that they've been laying the groundwork for since Ronald Reagan was president, but which has been massively accelerated since Trump was elected in 2016. I'm queer and 13 years old, yet I know more about politics than my mom's whole side of the family combined. You know why? Because of this. My rights, and my community's rights could be taken away. All we want is to live in peace with other people. My other queer friends and I already go through being called slurs at school, as well as incredibly homophobic family members, because we live in Georgia and we wouldn't expect anything else. I can't really express what I'm feeling right now but no one should be put down as a second class citizen, regardless of gender, sexuality, race or religion. I have been having a mental breakdown for weeks about it and my only outlet for expressing my anger is ranting over text to my friend and singing Green Day songs at the top of my lungs. I hate this so much. I hate America so much. But I'm never leaving because I want to enact change in society when it comes to this.

My father recently told me that I was abusing my youngest by allowing her to change genders. I told him that he would have no contact if he didn’t respect his grandchild. This is why being a queer or trans child in the current day is so difficult. Im a teenager( not specifying my exact age), and I've been out of the closet since 5th grade. I never understand why people discriminated against LGBTQ+ memebers, I just always thought that was who I loved. However, as I get older, I see more and more negative information trying to be pushed into the law. The first thing that always comes to my mind is "wait, isn’t this the land of the free?". Being a member of the LGBT community does fall under 'membership of a particular social group'. The High Court further found that Australia could not withhold granting asylum from LGBTI asylum seekers on the basis they could hide their sexual orientation and therefore prevent any undue harm being brought upon themselves. So yes indeed, Australia can be a safe haven for Americans fleeing a Trump presidency.

I just wanna add something coz I see adopted people talking about it on twitter. Adoption can be caused by a lot of things and it's not due to parental negligence as often as people think. Most of the time it's poverty or petty crimes (related to poverty :P) that make the state decide it's negligence and people have their kids taken from them. The whoel thing is nonconsensual and traumatic to child and parents. I just wanted to say that coz how you described it was an oversimplification and I felt it was misrepresentative of the average case.

Funny thing you mention boyscouts, a lot of lgbt people are eagle scouts. A large portion of us are mostly because our parents thought by forcing us into a anti-queer organization that it would magically make us not and much of the BSA of old would promote this ideology like it would magically convert us. In a queer space the discussion of boyscouts came up and I chimed in and said I'm a eagle scout kinda in shame, and 3 more voices in a space of about 15 or so people said they also are eagle scouts. That's a higher percentage of eagles in 1 room than I have ever been in as a eagle. Also the ones SAing kids were all religious and used their religion to justify the things they did. Also I would rather vote for a Biden Corpse than Trump. Also I tried sharing this video on facebook, and facebook censored it.

I was in the scouts for a long time. I was always active and participated, and in no way was I forced in. I wanted to be there and my dad supported my choice. After coming out to one of the members of the troop, he told some of the others and they started harassing me. That’s most likely the only reason I’m not an Eagle Scout, as I was well on the way to be. I was bullied out of scouts by homophobes who couldn’t imagine sharing a tent with a guy who had no interest in them.

I couldn’t help but cry watching this. I’m a genderqueer and bisexual teenager from Texas. I have conservative, republican parents who fully intend to support Trump in the coming election. Though they claim to be supportive of LGBTQ+ people, they get irked and feel the need to make remarks and insults every time they even see a single rainbow during pride month. Every time they hear about trans people they get annoyed and go on about how they’re hurting kids and women’s rights. Every time they hear of people who aren’t heterosexual they speak of how it’s against nature and disgusting. Ever since I first knew the words to describe my identity, I knew that that’s what I was, and I’ve spent years of my life waiting until I’m an adult to be myself. I’ve hid who I am for years out of fear of what my parents would react with. I’ve hidden myself with hope that I may live the life I choose soon. I knew the threat of Project 2025 at least a year ago, but you put its danger and insanity into words better than I’ve ever heard before. Having waited so long already, hid most of my life from my parents, been harassed, called slurs, told to find god, told to kill myself day after day in the hallways at school I’ve been hopeful that I can leave it behind once I’m an adult, move to a different state and live the life I need. Now, realizing just how big this threat truly is, I’m terrified that I may never live my life as who I am freely. There’s not much I can do at this age, but no matter our outcomes, I’ll never stop supporting my fellow LGBTQ+ peers and friends. They’re fighting the laws of physics at this point even if successful they still loose. Reality is in a constant state of change, and has already time and time again shown that it will bring back the things they hate. Even if we die it doesn’t matter, we are small and that’s not as scary as it sounds, there’s nothing humans can do that will ever be particularly permanent, we’re just another mass extinction event and by those standards we’re not even very good at it.
