I’m glad to hear that the tutorials are helping Charlene, more revisions of the old tutorials are in the works, although I think you’ll probably be able to follow well enough now, the last UI change was really quite minor. Take a look at the playlist on the channel to see the remaining ones and the supplementary videos which are arranged in a suggested order. kzbin.info/aero/PLFCTgdiT5-kLBNvrkUNy63Gu1tWdRuKkr

Nice work, you are very aware of the need for repetition as muscle memory and hand eye coordination go together. Thank you for your time and effort. I do have a tip to share with you, when I create videos that I know people will often change the play back speed, I will record the at a high frame rate also highest speed that way the files are half the size and upload speed is very short. After all I do watch most of your videos at 1.5 times normal. So just a thought, makes it less time and memory on your end, changing video speed can be noted at beginning at normal speed.

@@ArnoldRowntreeTeachesFusion360 Yes I checked out a few of them, found them very helpful. I use photoshop, for my artwork, I learned a lot from step by step book back in the early 2000s the book covered all the tools and performances. I was looking for a video that went over everything in the F360 work environment and there function and how they perform.

Good to see you back, without your beginners classes I wouldn't have been able to create the 3D printed carburettor manifold and recreate a discontinued expansion tank for a ZXR750H1. As 3d scanners are becoming the norm, maybe a series on converting scan data to a usable file.

Thanks BFTB, its great to hear about people learning and then going on to do things I don't know much about; things I can't do. A friend of mine did use a 3D scanner to copy furniture components and then routed them on his CNC router. It looked hard enough that modeling from scratch in Fusion 360 is how I'd have approached it then. Hopefully that's all changing by now.

@ArnoldRowntreeTeachesFusion360 sometimes that's the way to go. I tried modeling the expansion tank but it was a very irregular shape and hard to get measurements. kzbin.info81SoHCLnV-4?feature=share

Wow, irregular is the word. So it probably has to fit between a lot of other stuff in a small space. Did you have to find all the planes in the point cloud as it was output by the scanner? I think that was the rough workflow last time I looked.

@ArnoldRowntreeTeachesFusion360 initially it gave me a shape of about 20 million faces, I think I got it to about 50k faces then imported into f360. I saved it as 1 solid mass, but it wouldn't hollow or thicken from the normal bodies workspace, but I found it I hollowed it first then converted it to solid, it was OK. Then I carefully placed planes to redraw the pipes and main cap thread that the scanner had failed to fully resolve.

Great to see you are back! One question - I see you always work in the X-axis/Z-axis plane, and extrude into the Y-axis. This seems unusual to me, as I am accustomed to working in the X-Y plane. Is this just a personal preference, or is there a "traditional" plane for these types of drawings?

Al, I would need to check that I was paying any attention at all when I did the tutorials. If the part is going to be CNC machined then Z up would be preferable. I usually try to remember to go with the standard orientation of the viewcube in the upper right of the screen where you see Front, Top, Left, Right etc. The thing is that you can change orientation at any time and I did a video about it kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJLTqKp3hsypmLM

geez i keep getting lost here you flick from extrusion to the drawing tools but for the life of me i can't seem to get them back up stuck in solids list and clicked all the items but can't find the draw tools to creat circle

Sorry to hear about these frustrations Dave, the thing to remember is that there are two main jobs, one is 2D sketches, the other is 3D features. Be sure that you're in sketch for drawing 2D outlines, and exit sketch to extrude. Then if you want to edit a sketch, be sure you're in the 3D area, find the sketch in the timeline at the bottom of the screen, right click on it and choose Edit Sketch to see the draw tools for circle and others. I hope this helps.

Yes doc, the revision for number 7 is in the works, it will be a while yet but most people are able to follow with the older tutorials since the UI changes were relatively minor. Please ask if there's anything that doesn't make sense with those videos.
