I WANT TO THANK YOU, James Williams, FROM THE BOTTOM OF HEART I also have a small appreciation to Transmission Bench. I have rebuilt my 6th 4l60e Transmission using the exact professional tools you demonstrate and other mechanic and technical skills I've acquired over my career. For Myself, my parents 2 trucks, and 3 others I made profit from. I have now planned to continue overhauling 4l60e, 4l80e, and 6l80e as a respectable and helpful technician. Ps.- May your health and family prosper.

I just rebuilt my 2007 Chevrolet 4L60E following Jimmy's tutorials and it works again! Fantastic video series and presentation. Never thought I'd attempt this procedure but he made it easy as well as ordering the parts I needed. Highly recommended, thanks Jimmy!

Where do you get a new front planetary gear? I’m not seeing a 4 pinion on Amazon and I can’t find one elsewhere online from a reputable source.

My output shaft isnt going in enough to put the snap ring. the snap ring groove does not clear the front planetary. Any tips or thoughts please?

Just keep playing with it take it out to the sun shell and build back, mines was doing the same also place the unit on same side as Jimmy

Good time to replace the O ring where the drive shaft yoke slides into the slinger. It is located on the output shaft.
@oldmountainmarineandmetals97364 жыл бұрын
Hi, after following my own step by step installation and then taking it back apart and then following you step by step it doesn't seem like my output shaft is coming in the case enough to install the small lock ring and the only step that I skipped was putting the shaft in last, I put loctite on the splines when I first started like the directions said that the manufacturer does when building it. So my question is should the shaft go in far enough to where the oiling hole in the journal is running on the race on the rear of the case? Because I'm a quarter of a inch short
@MidnightMechanic7 жыл бұрын
Not only should the drive shell be replaced, it should be upgraded with a revised, heat treated hardened drive shell that's normally used for pro series racing. They're not that expensive, upwards around $80-$100, but it's a very good investment to prevent transmission failure even after a recent rebuild.
@surfers206 жыл бұрын
Midnight Mechanic you wouldn't know if I can use an (new) old style sun shell with the 4 holes for a thrust washer (but not use the thrust washer) and keep just the thrust bearing?

I have a 99 s10 2.2 auto. It had p1870 code. But all gears would still work. Just long drives after stopping and down shifting to 1st it wouldn't want to pull .. could filter and solenoids fix it possibly?

So the snapring groove on the output shaft is not exposed enough to put the snap ring on. What would cause this?

Did you put the stock ( failure prone) sunshell back in? Why not run the better, stronger aftermarket sunshell? Then you won't have to do this again next week!!!!!!! Great video!
@glhxturbo5 жыл бұрын
I would guess this to just show exact stock rebuild. He never much talks about upgrades in these videos. He could have also put a wider sun gear bushing in there or double up on the smaller ones.
