This worked for me. Thanks a lot! I'm using an actual PS2 controller with single adapter to USB by the company HDE. (if anyone else has issues with HDE brand adapters, the weird thing for me is that even though my HDE ps2 to usb adapter is only for one controller, it is coming up as if it is two controllers with the 1st cotroller being none functional, and with my actual controller registering as the 2nd one. When I disabled the "nonexistent" controller in device manager, then x360 recognized my controller as the only controller. From there it was fine.)

m8, I did all the steps described on ur tutorial, for a N64 usb controller, the controller programme supposedly recognized the control (it appears to work as the pressed bottoms where recognized by the x360 programme), but when tried to change the configuration on the project 64 emulator, it did not recognized the control :S

I'm using a Universal PS3 Controller for PC, I set up my buttons on x360 just perfectly, but Project64 still does not detect the buttons, is there anything I did wrong that could have caused this?

My controller doesn't have a usb port. Mine has a socket adapter with 2 controllers but mines keep making me to walk slow when I was playing super mario 64 or other games. Do you know how to set up the nintendo 64 controller with a socket adapter only?

You could just plug in a PS4 controller via usb and then do the button mapping then it's not that hard

If this video didn't solved your problem, you can try 1964 emulator's input dll. I'll give a link down below. www.mediafire.com/file/ayjo5jqnbzxlutf/file How do I install it? ; Right click the Project64 application and select open file location. Copy and paste the "1964Input.dll" file into this location "Project64\Plugin\Input". Then open Project64 and go to Options at the top corner and go to the Settings>Plugins then change your "Input (controller) plugin" to "1964Input.dll". Then you can go and change your controller settings. It should work.

I GIVE UP. Every single N64 Emulator is a FAILURE. They refuse to detect any controller at all. I've tried everything on every single one. Steam games work with my controller, as do NES and SNES emulators. But, oh no, when it comes to N64, everything shits the bed.

If your Project 64 is downloaded into your program files or program files (86x) or whatever its called it won't work. Make a seperate folder for it
