INS Karanj - Launched in 2018, 6 years young but missing the latest tech. 12. INS Vela - Commissioned in 2019, just 5 years but still incomplete. 13. INS Vagir - From 2020, only 3 years old but not game-changing. 14. INS Vagsheer - The "newest" from 2022, just 2 years old but still behind in capability. 15. INS Arihant - India’s first SSBN from 2016, 8 years old, and not without limitations. 16. INS Arighat - Expected in 2024, and even before joining, it's already part of the tally. Reality Check Out of this fleet of 16 submarines, only 9 might be remotely useful in a war. The rest? Either too old, too basic, or lacking essential modern technology. A situation not unlike the Indian Air Force's "quantity over quality" approach. Moral of the story? A lot of pride and media hype, but when it comes to actual capability, it’s a lot of noise underwater!

Project-75( 3 to 5 super scorpene) project- 75i, 3rd/4th aircraft carrier, ssn(nuclear attack sub) all of them are easily decades away just like airforce mrfa. Choice for indian navy is to achieve more with whatever resources available presently or will be available shortly in near future.

As of now or in any near future the Navy will have to do with 1) 2 aircraft carriers with 40 mig-29k (possible 26 rafales after 6 to 7 years) 24 mh-60, 10-ka-27/28,14- ka-31aew awacs , 12-p8i, 8 scorpene, 6 kilo class submarines, dozens of destroyers / frigates /corvettes/patrol crafts/ aircrafts, a couple of ssbn's ,and possible 15 mq-9 drones.

We may have to take few pages of lesson from ukranian navy which is waging an asymmetrical warfare/sea -denial warafare against larger Russian navy. Our Indian navy too has to adopt both the combination of sea control as well as sea -denial strategies to overcome these severe shortfall in it's naval fleet.

government ko defense budget 3 forces ko allot krne ke baad, interfere nhi karna chahiye negotiations, signing etc me. 3 force ko choose krne do ki ve kya chahte hai, jisse ki decision fastly ho. yes government ko swadesi nd videsi platform ke induction ka ratio define krna chahiye nd CAG/CBI etc institution se curruption bhi monitor krni chahiye. khud socho in polliticians ko ghanta bhi nhi pata defense weapons etc ka nd army etc ko inhe har system ke negotiation, deal signing etc me briefing nd meeting deti rehni padti hai. tabhi itne saal lag jaate hai decision making me.

​@@debajyotipatra2313 it is very very difficult to scale up an existing submarine version till we own the full design and IP. You can transfer the blueprint not the years of painstaking experience the french and germans have by their century old sub building heritage. That said, the most time effective option would have been to just repeat 8-12 more Kalvari class with the Naval group AIP(assuming the drdo aip integration did not meet all expectations and rhus could have been added later on batches) and develop own indegeneous tech like anechoic tiles, pumpjet propulsion, electro-optronic mast and CO2 diffuser to add on to the existing Kalvari design. These in itself would have made it far.more quieter. Now with the delay, qe could very well go for the blacksword barracuda version that Nagal Group is going to build for the 4 dutch boats it won recently. It will be far more capable and potent version than anything on offer.

Its a problem of RFP.What navy is asking for is a operational aip which Germans do not have since they need to build a bigger one for navy requirements which technically means that operating aip is not available with spain and Germany.
