Another option for the tyres - 3d print a negative mould and use black silicone caulk mixed with cornflour for the rubber. The cornflour makes it set faster and gives it a dark grey rather than pure black colour. I used it to make some tyres for a Tamiya XR311 and they look pretty good.

I have a few ideas, firstly for the screens. Since you'd technically need to get lights in all the marine status screens, look into LED panels so that you can just slide that behind it as a single unit that will light up the entire screen board. Secondly, for the tires i think you should be able to make a mold by using the tire file and reversing it to then just casting the tire in black silicone so it has that "sticky" rubber feeling to it. Cant wait to see the next one, this beast is gorgeous and as a builder myself im blown away but the amount of detail and smart work you're putting into this tribute to one of the best vehicle designs ever made.
@StaplesandVine3 ай бұрын
Yes I had looked into the one big screen idea. It would liook great but I have near zero depth to play with and in 1/24 scale there is little room for manoeuvre. I think re the tyres casting in soft rubber will be the route I first go down. I think we will all learn a lot from the final result. 🙂
@PearlJam2k63 ай бұрын
@@StaplesandVine I was thinking about the depth as well, i guess the other alternative would be light filament noodles, or maybe LED strips (they're about the size of the screens too) but im worried the strips might be WAY too bright however. Best of luck sir, we're all eagerly awaiting the next step.
