I have a 2015 250F. I live in South Dakota and ride single track, dual track, in the Black Hills. I removed the throttle stop, the restriction in the pipe and changed the ECU, all Yamaha products. Installed the the IMS tank, Rekluse clutch. I’ve put thousands of miles on it. The bike takes me anywhere my KTM and Husky’s friends go. Best thing is mine is street legal, great bike for the money.

Great video! Good to see a review on the WR250F from the US! Most of the ones I’ve seen are coming from Australia or the UK. Those are good videos too and it seems like the bike is more popular in those countries. Not sure if it’s me but the Yamaha doesn’t seem as sought after in the US. From all that I’ve seen it’s an awesome bike. Excellent bang for buck. Planning on adding one to my stable this spring.

The WR250F is an excellent motorcycle. You do have to put some effort into setting it up properly for you and your needs. But it's pretty simple with excellent aftermarket support. Once you get it dialed in, it's a blast.

I think the WR can be street legal in those countries, which makes the market bigger.

The YZ250FX is pretty popular in the GNCC races.. the problem is that the WR comes corked up in America and Canada. So you need to remove the airbox bung, put the new throttle stop screw in and get the competition ECU (maybe add the map button and CCU while you're at it) then you have a very capable bike.. BUT that costs extra $$ so most people will get the FX in these markets. Such a shame its not sold "complete" like in Europe and Aus/NZ.

I have the Australian version 2021 WR250F and it comes with the wifi connection map switch button stock. I have installed a Rekluse CX Radius auto clutch and a rear brake master cylinder on the left hand side bar . The best mod ever , I have installed the 2021 YZ250F air box boot and a YZ250FX muffler. The bike comes alive with the Keefer Aggressive 2 map .

We wish the US spec WR would come with the wifi ECU. No such luck though. Sounds like you have a nice setup. Thanks for watching.

Is there much of a difference between the yz & wr intake boots? I assume the yz is a bigger diameter??

Great! Honest question though, why would you not just get a yz250FX??
@383stroker43 жыл бұрын
The wr is a green sticker and the yz is a red sticker
@UPSHIFT_ONLINE3 жыл бұрын
You can. It just depends on what you need. As mentioned in another response... depending on where you are the WR is easier to get a Green Sticker. Adding lights and radiator fan etc could start to add up if those are things you need. But if not, the FX could be a great option. Both bikes will likely need suspension tuning to be well suited so thats not really a consideration.

Great looking bike. It looks like your brake hose is on the wrong side of the fork tube. I have that tank but put the San Diego powerhouse gas cap on it. Expensive but safer for sure
@UPSHIFT_ONLINE3 жыл бұрын
It is. We were wondering who would notice. That's what happens when you get suspension in the afternoon before you shoot and someone who didn't take the bike apart puts it back together. We noticed in in the field and just ran with it.

A lot of your videos say you are riding single track in Idaho. What part of the state do you typically ride in?
@UPSHIFT_ONLINE3 жыл бұрын
We are based near Boise and we have quite a lot of trail available to us locally and beyond.
@fynn82523 жыл бұрын
Late comment here. Does that IMS tank make the air filter cover harder to remove? Also, can you just run a short breather hose instead of the long OEM one?
@someonethatwatchesyoutube29532 жыл бұрын
I just bought a 2022 wr250f for my son and it really sucks compared to my 2020 KTM 300 xc-w. The suspension is ridiculously harsh. The power delivery is jerky/abrupt, the tires are rock hard. By the time you get this bike set up you could’ve just bought a 300 and been done with it.
@UPSHIFT_ONLINE2 жыл бұрын
You're not wrong. They carried over a lot from the YZ250F and not in a good way. Once it gets set up though, it is a great bike.

With ALL those changes you guys made, its a totally different bike . I'm guessing $2000 - $2500 in modifications easily? hmmm

Sounds about right. But we went all out. You could easily edit the list down and build out and excellent bike.
