How much did the brake kit cost. Thanks

FYI for next time. Castle nut torque. You torque the front wheel bearing to 12 FT LB while spinning the wheel then back the nut 1 flat before inserting the cotter pin. The info is in Section 3 (Suspension) of the 1970 Service/Overhaul Supplement Manual. I mentioned 70 cause I own a 1970 Z28. And don’t forget to use brake grease to grease your sliding surfaces.

Im currently working on a 1984 El Camino Conquista so I fee the pain and joy of getting it right.. I work on my car and fix something then something else goes wrong but always look for videos and like to see how things come together. Thanks for the videos and information

I love the G-body because of the parts compatibility with newer chevy platforms. We can steel parts from jeeps, blazers, and in my case (LS swapping) silverados

I think you put the passenger side rotor on the drivers side. not to be an azz but I think they are made to spin the opposite direction of what you have them. Good video. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the 400 smallblock.

You guy are awesome always with a good attitude! I have a 71chevelle and for some reason I don't have pressure on the rear calipers I find out that my rear calipers are mixed up the left side on the right side do you think that's why I don't have pressure on the rear

Did you have to change out the proportion valve
@devicetrickz6 жыл бұрын
You guys doing disc in the rear too?
@BudgetBuildGarage6 жыл бұрын
Yes. The plan is to put in a ford 9 inch rear end and do the brakes then.
@devicetrickz6 жыл бұрын
Budget Build Garage would you recommend I go that way too as I have a 67 elcamino and not sure if I should keep original rear end or not
@BudgetBuildGarage6 жыл бұрын
What rear end does it have? Is it a 12 bolt or a 10? The 12 bolts are plenty strong and they are good rear ends. The reason I want a For 9 inch is because the gears are build into the 3rd member and that can be removed and swapped out much easier. Since I have a 9 inch in the Pontiac and I will have one in the Mustang soon it makes sense to have a different gear set for all of them so I can switch them around when I want to.
@devicetrickz6 жыл бұрын
Budget Build Garage I believe 12 but I'm gonna switch to disc all around to make it a fun project
@BudgetBuildGarage6 жыл бұрын
That sounds like a cool project. If you use Instagram tag me in a post of the project so I can see it.

Hey man, love the show, do you have a link to the kit you used? And would it work for my 74 elky?
@BudgetBuildGarage6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. www.summitracing.com/parts/rsd-afxdc01cs/overview/ This is the kit we used but it only goes up to 1972. What does your car currently have on it? Is it a factory disc brake car? I could be wrong but I think there was a spindle change in 1973 so I don't think it would work.
@donameci75 жыл бұрын
I just bought this kit yesterday for my 66 Cutlass. So the other brake booster is relatively smaller that comes with the kit. What did you modify on the booster?
@BudgetBuildGarage5 жыл бұрын
No they sell the kit with a couple different sizes boosters.

How did your disc conversion turn out on the 66 cutlass?
@donameci72 жыл бұрын
@@clearedhot6146 it actually turned out awesome. No problems at all. A really smooth proces. I've been thinking of swapping the rear as well but haven't built up the nerve to do it. Are you doing a swap?
@clearedhot61462 жыл бұрын
@@donameci7 I'm planning on it in a few months. My brake shoes are locked up.
@donameci72 жыл бұрын
@@clearedhot6146 oh yeah that'll definitely make you want to upgraded the system. I'm about to go to this classic junkyard and find a set of disc for my truck front end

How much was that kit and did you put the 2in drop spindles on
@BudgetBuildGarage6 жыл бұрын
It was around $500. I used a stock height spindle. I dont like using drop spindles to lower the car.

thats not the right way to grease a bearing
@lektrikbass4 жыл бұрын
My first observation. The bearing is not "packed" by rubbing grease on it.

That is not how u pack bearings, I hope u packed them right and was just showing for video purposes, that bearing won’t last long the way u packed it
@BudgetBuildGarage5 жыл бұрын
The bearings are packed with a tool that fills the bearing from the inside. They are packed correctly.
@JP-xg8cd5 жыл бұрын
Oh ok u didn’t show it in the video, I thought u just rubbed the grease on lol, good deal 👍🏼
