www.ISRTV.com presents our first video of Project CARS on the Playstation 4. In this video, Darin goes over the many variables on what can be adjusted to enhance your force feedback.
Although this video features the Playstation 4, the settings should translate to the PC and XBox One.
During the video, I mention that I would have a link to the notes that Robert Waddell shared with me and here it is : bit.ly/1zSvg9y

To the people complaining about the amount of adjustability , go and play forza . It's fairly simple to set up a base that feels good . Then tweak it as you want from there . This guide is a great starting point !

So in this game you spend more time fine tuning the forcefeed back for each car than you do playing carreer.

I don't remember the link unfortunately as I found it at my work's computer but I will give you a run down of how I set up the McLarenP1 PART 1: Global Settings 1. Set the global FFB to 100; it will default to 75 when you first start it. 2. Tire Force to 100; or set as you see fit from here. 3. Relative Adjust Gain to 1.10, Relative Adjust Bleed to 0.10, and Relative Adjust Clamp to 0.95 4. Body Scale and Body Longitudinal Scal to 0.01 5. Scoop Knee to 0.70 and Scoop Reduction to 0.15 6 NOTE; if a certain car is too weak or too strong adjust "Master Scale" and "Sop Scale" But always KEEP THEM AT THE SAME LEVEL as each other ! 7. McLarenP1 settings: Master Scale:30 Fx Scale: 60 Fy Scale: 27 Fz Scale: 140 Mz Scale: 90 Fx Smooth: 20 Fy Smooth: 0 Fz Smooth: 0 Mz Smooth: 0 IMPORTANT one: Arm Angle: 1500 Sop Scale: 30 (remember to keep the same as Master Scale above if you change either or) Sop Lateral: 70 Sop Diff: 140 Sop Damp: 0 Most of all the other cars on the list within the game fall fairly close to these but the Arm Angle is 1500 for about 75 percent of them. Some cars have 1000 or 500. The only exceptions are the Ford Focus RS and the Renault Megane which both have 0 for Arm Angle for some reason. It also looks like Mz scales vary between about 80 to 160 with most being around 80 to 100. The Formula A has an Mz setting of only 25 however. Give these settings a go guys and let me know if things improve for you. I've tried other settings including the ones on this video but these have made the biggest improvements to the game. No offense to the guy in this video but he is just fooling around with settings like anyone else who's scoured the internet.

very good feedback back then, in retrospect its also a good ideal to lower the force feedback base setting under in game under options and then go make sure the gain is set to 1.00 then after that yes all off the above makes much more sense. so basically the force feadback signal coming out of the game should always be adequate depending on the device / motor receving it. so that the user should make sure that his/her wheel is not oversaturated and distorting by this signal. or that the user dosent have to go and trim the signal digitally neither on the whell settings or on game using gain or other sorts of limiters wich would all end up inpeding the full spectrum signal representation of the force feedback signal.

10:34 You need to be in neutral for the car to start automatically. I doesn't respond to just a clutch and gas press for a restart, it has to be in neutral. Also, If you use the telemetry HUD, it displays the force feedback amount in the top left. Very useful to find clipping.

Very informative, these videos really are great because man the force feedback is a complete mine field. I have never had a wheel so didn't have a basis of what is "too strong" but I can see now after applying changes that the default ps4 setting are way to high, it's such a fight to get round, not now. Thanks again.

Thanks Inside Sim Racing!! At first the Force Feedback on my T300 was REALLY awkward, the wheel was just too heavy and every time i turn the wheel makes a noise(like it was screamming of pain). I started with the Lancer and put everything as you said, than i started the carrer mode with a Kart and god, something was wrong!! So i changed some stuff(the 2000 arm angle isn't good for karts for me). But FX, Fy and FZ numbers are almost the same. What i do is usely increase the arm angle in 500 in almost every car to make it better and the F's values i use 48, 44 and 80. Thanks again, it really made the game enjoyable to me!

Had serious trouble with PCars using TM TX wheel, seriously considered dumping the game, Xbox and wheel until I saw this vid. Set up as per advice mentioned and lo, all was good. In love with PCars and my wheel now. Old set up resulted in snetterton lap of 1.46, using the advice in the vid, lap time now down to 1.35!! Really good feel, and info coming through the wheel. Thanks to ISR and contributors.

Thank you so, so much for this video. It's exactly what I've been looking for since yesterday. The changes do indeed help a lot. Here's the thing though. In my opinion, no racing sim should need so much fiddling in order to improve the ffb. It should feel good right away more or less. Overall it's a good game, it has some amazing graphics and effects (for example the rain), it has a nice career mode (although it's a little too long for me), it has some very good physics but the ffb needs a lot of work. Even in GT6 the steering wheel feels more informative, more alive. You can feel more of the tyres and the surface. Obviously there is no comparison with AC. I don't know if it has raised the bar so much that I expect every new sim to feel similar but I am a little disappointed with the ffb. Even after all those changes you don't feel the road. Once again though, thank you for the video!

I agree with you. The force feedback should feel right out of the box. I played the game for about 2 hours so far and something feels a little off with the FFB. However, there are so many settings and I will make adjustments in relation to what Darin showcased in this video. Assetto Corsa is still the benchmark that most sim racers should aspire to.

@Darin: As I understand it, "Arm Angle" is actually the Ackerman angle -- i.e. the part of the steering geometry that is resposinble for toe-out on turns. In real life, if you set it to zero, you get no difference in angle between the inside and the outside wheel when turning because, geometrically speaking, the tie-rods, the lateral line between the wheel hub centers and the lateral line between the tie-rod attachment points no longer make a trapez but a rectangle. Strictly speaking, the "Arm Angle" should always be set to a positive angle. I'll check with AJ or Casey Ringley on the WMD forums whether that particular knob actually changes the steering geometry or if it is purely a FFB feel modifier. As an aside, I've always been of the opinion that this shouldn't be modified by people who don't understand suspension and steering geometry, but maybe that's just me being a pedant! =) I'm 'ermo' on the WMD and Project CARS forum btw.

Ackermam angle isn't adjustable in cars so i'd imagine this is a function to do with force feedback otherwise it ia in the tuning section.

For the PS4 version of Project Cars I use the T300RS. Force feedback I, starts at 26, I use between 100-200 depending on the car. The top three F scales I set to 34 and the M scale I set between 6 and 10 depending on the car. I don't mess with anything else.

So to summarise: 1. Americans can't pronounce Megane, 2. ISR Monetized the settings and work from "some guy" without credit, 3. ISR didn't prep for the video enough, had no idea what he was talking about for the duration, and everyone should just skip the video and download Jack Spade's settings for all cars, famous across the Project Cars community.

For the guys that are using G25/G27 Logitech wheels have a look at this: forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?22122-G25-G27-SETUP-GUIDE The part I wrote about "Deadzone Removal Range" is very important for ANY wheel. With the correct value applied it compensates for washed out FFB effects and some wheels need a tiny value which doesnt change much, but on other wheels it has a huge impact. Gives you the details back that you should feel with a wheel in case that a too heavy FFB just overlaps them. Overall FFB/TireForce/ProfilerFFB should be at 100 as a starting point. Again, if FFB gets to heavy, you will lose effects! also you will lose detailedness when lowering the FFb too much, then you need to put higher values for deadzone removal range. get your exact FFBBaseOffsetValue for adjusting DeadzoneRemoval Range from "wheel checker 1.72" (link is in the forum I posted above!) so you are able to set the perfect value. Just as a summary what effects can be felt (I use a G25): depends on track! (some are very very smooth and others are pretty bumpy. I recommend Nordschleife/Monza/Oulton Park/Donington/Brands Hatch) depends on the car you are driving! (wont feel much in road cars compared to the real race cars) I would recommend a GT3 cars for testing and you can not feel every kerb on every track. some are flat, some arent, again depending on the car as well road surface kerbs grasbumps/sandpitbumps scrubbing weight shift of the car bottoming out understeer (with brake lock up) so front load under braking (the wheel wants to "escape" when you are on the peak of braking perfomance) oversteer (though this is more of a visual thing as a wheel is only connected to the front tires and not the rear tires! in a motion less sim with no buttkickers you just dont have "seat of the pants" feel like in a real car. this is also due to project cars very detailed tire model! but you feel it due to weight shifting) crashing ...(well who knew?) So if you dont feel certain effects or if you cannot seperate them while driving you really need to adjust your wheel. "just having some force working against your input" is not representing the true power of any sim. as Darin said in the video. The per car settings are in the setup area of each car and only affect the one car that is chosen. you will need to adjust them for every new car again if you wont to fiddle with those. First get the base feeling right before you adjust those sliders. I hope you get it dialed in. Have fun racing!

Photonenshizzl I checked my G27 with the wheelcheck from that topic (great topic btw!!) and it said the max SteeringFFBBaseOffset is 0.0% Is that even possible? Its also at 0 in the game and to be honest, It doesnt feel bad or weird.
@Photonenshizzl
@Photonenshizzl 9 жыл бұрын
serialced some people have mentioned that, it probably shouldnt be at 0 but I cant tell. I only own a G25. just try a few more times and see if you only get 0 as a value. you can also just try higher settings for deadzoneremovalrange and see what feels good for you.
@serialced
@serialced 9 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the swift reply! I'll try 0 and 0.18 back to back a couple times and see how it feels. I wonder why it would repeatedly show as 0 though, with multiple tries, disconnects,...
@serialced
@serialced 9 жыл бұрын
Photonenshizzl I just tried that, at 0.18 deadzone removal, the wheel shakes violently when I let go in a straight line. It was hard to notice other differences because it was so pronounced. I assume thats not intended behaviour? It keeps showing 0 when I check it, all options and output data are there, so the wheel has a good connection and Wheelchecker picks it up ok Edit: Profiler default profile (out of game) still had center spring and all the settings wrong, I adjusted them to fit the game profile, tried WC again -> 0% However, if I then turned the wheel a couple times, it would automatically go to 1.5% Min force again then turning, and it went to 3.5%. Another attempt with turns and it went back to 1%. I will try it ingame at 0.03.

For anyone that has the Xbox One version and has the issue where the steering is so loose/sloppy you can barely get a feel for the car I've done a video explaining the situation and what settings I've adjusted in detail. But in short for people immediately trying to get something to work with try these setting in the tuning setup: Master Scale: 50 Fx Scale: 176.00 Fy Scale: 176.00 Fz Scale: 176.00 Mz Scale: 176.00 Everything else can be default or you can adjust them one at a time but raising just these will make a huge difference. (This probably won't help you if you're on PS4 and are having FFB that's too strong.)

Maybe it's just my wheel. My first TX felt pretty strong on the FFB (keep in mind I was coming from a DFGT) but when I got a replacement TX it never seemed as strong. Maybe I just got used to it or its not as strong as the first one as it never felt too hard to steer anything or get out of a situation in Forza. Project CARS has a pretty mushy FFB all around center but there was a new patch that just came out so I'll have to give the game another shot and see if any more tweaking still needs done.

I properly changed the car as I thought the setting was track specific as I saved to all tracks, does that mean I have to change every single car?

I assume you know this by now but you can change the wheel rotation settings, same as you could on the G27. Scroll through the settings by hitting L or R on the direction pad then press Mode. Four lights is 900, five is 1080 (good for karts), etc. 450 is good for drifting. These are in the wheel, not the game so they work for any game you play.

GTWorld.ca I don't think a G27 has a mode button.. I know about it i=on the TX or T300
@GTWorldca
@GTWorldca 9 жыл бұрын
Inside Sim Racing Not a mode button, no. You can change the degrees of rotation by pressing the two center red buttons and one of the control keys at the same time. Degrees are 240, 450, 670 and 900. That has to be done after every calibration. Not sure if the TM wheel remembers the setting or if you have to change it every time. Probably every time, my guess.

Hopefully the new patch that has come out has improved the default settings because this looks like a pain in the ass. This is something they should have set up from the beginning to be realistic.

I'm using default setup for my G29 on PC, ffb is ok with me. No need to waste time finding what's the best ffb. BTW, my lap was 03:22:630. I'm trying to beat Darin's lap time on this.

I really love this game, I can honestly say it's the best game over ever played. I play with a controller on PS4 and although I know it's nothing compared to a wheel I still love it, I have some pretty good settings dialled in for the pad now for all assists off (apart from manual clutch because it's a bit fiddly to shift+clutch with a pad). Playing on 100% race length in career because I love it so much. :-)
@madmax2069

Whats the default clutch and shift buttons in project cars ? When I use to play forza 3 I only played with manual shift with clutch and didnt like the default clutch and shift buttons, I switched out ebrake button and clutch button. Made the clutch button A (which would be X on a PlayStation controller), and the ebrake to the left bumper (which would be L1 on the PlayStation controller), I left down shift as X (which would be square on the PlayStation controller), and upshift B (which is circle in the PlayStation controller) and enjoyed it after that. It made clutch shifting a breeze it only took flicking A and B, or A and X. The only downside to it was the design of the 360s bumper buttons which sticks out too far to the side and your finger would sometimes hit the now ebrake button and cause a slight slide.
@BDavis197
@BDavis197 9 жыл бұрын
There is no default clutch button, you have to map one yourself if you want to use it. Back on Forza I used to use the default LB as clutch and found it simple but I tried mapping L1 to clutch on PCars with Square and Circle as shifting but it didn't work as well as I'd hoped. Still, shifting without use of a clutch doesn't bother me, I find the game great fun! :-)

Playing with a pad is so hard for some reason, when compared to Gran Turismo and etc. I don't know why but the braking always stiff, torque is so much that the entire car losses control.

I would reduce either the brake pressure of the car or the brake sensitivity in the settings. Also many cars get loose when you downshift and at the same time steer as the wheels turn faster for a moment when downshifting.

Sorry, but this Fy-Fm-values i don´t like and the car handles worse than before with my TX on PC. My starting values are around 100/150/135/135 and less mainforce if it´s clipping. High Fy-values gives you a better feel for oversteering, more feeling like R3E with that. So it´s quit high, because i like R3E. But if you like the FFB of iRacing (which i hate) yeah, turn down everything until it´s numb enough.

Guys I'm having a massive problem. I keep stalling the cars. Im using the thrustmaster th8a, t3pa and t300 ferrari gte. I go into neutral, rev to the highest possible rpm, put the clutch pedal down and put the stick into first but it stays in neutral then when I let the revs die down it then goes into first (even though ive already put the stick there) but the revs go down too low and it stalls. When I put the clutch pedal down and leace the stick in first, in reality you could start the car without stalling but everytime I do it immediately stalls again. I've tried plugging via USB and via the DIN port but the problem persists. PLEASE HELP!

Inside Sim Racing It did man, it gave me a starting point, that helped a lot. I guess I"m still struggling with the fact that I have to do this for most cars that I drive as the cars all feel numb out the box. I don't mind tweaking handling characteristics like we do in Iracing but having to tweak ffb settings for each car seems a bit much. But it is what it is. Thanks again.

Ok honestly. Tuning every car is insane. After 3 hours i finally got kart to feel decent. Then superkart another hour. But once i got invited to the brands hatch showdown with the porcshe its horrid. 2 full hours of tuning and i cant get the car around the track with any kind of feel i like. Force ffb is shit. Master scale up. All the fz and mz tuned to my liking and ffb at 100 it feels like forza on 60% ffb. I want to love this game. But its not happening for me right now. If you can do a few feeler laps on the xbox one darin and go through some ffb tips so we can follow along and feel out how and what you change would be much much appreaciated. Thanks Jay.

You tested the T500RS the PS4? I think the T500RS does not work properly, I say this because sometimes need to turn on and off the steering wheel in and out of the game, to be assumed correctly the PS4 !!! This is normal? Even with the game Club Drive, sometimes the FFB is "good", sometimes or sit, stay "dead". About the game Project cars, so setting for the steering wheel as for a car to be accurate, it does not seem normal (it's my opinion).
