Great video, thanks for taking the time to explain all this to us sim newbies. I have read around a lot about watching out for FFB clipping when adjusting settings like this. Do you find that the in game telemetry helps in this adjustment or is it not that accurate? I feel like no matter what I do the FFB ends up hitting the top of the meter and flatlining.

I just got this game on a pc for the first time. I have been driving gt6 on a ps3 with a Thrustmaster T 500 rs wheel nearly 4 years. I have tried for the last 8 hours adjusting settings on the wheel and on the game. The wheel lurches from side to side from the slightest of changes in direction. To be honest I can't keep it between the lines on the track or get it out the paddock without hitting the sides. I must thank you for a very informative video which I will try tomorrow. However I think my biggest question is why MUST I search the Web for help from other people's experience trying to get this to work. If I pay £40 for something I would expect the makers to have a list of settings that I can use to "play !" with it. I could learn to drive a real car quicker ! Very very frustrating so far ...
@MikeSwannick2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely right. Whilst it is fantastic to have control of a significant number of elements responsible for an immersive FFB experience, without proper explanation from the devs within the software itself, it's largely pointless. Devs don't always make good 'front of house' representatives and Project Cars FFB settings is the perfect example of how not to do it.
@MarkShawMedia9 жыл бұрын
Very helpful. It looks like many people are assuming this game doesn't hold this potential and pass it off as acradish compared to Assetto Corsa.
@starsky83518 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this, its a great add on from Inside Sim Racing. Going to have another play with these settings. My only worry is how much can the wheel handle, worse fear is breaking my wheel.
@oscaropiela80518 жыл бұрын
+Anthony Starsky (Starsky83) Yeah i get what you are saying, in assetto corsa i feel the bumps and everything so well but in project cars its rather strong and dull at the same time which causes my fan to turn on in my wheel after about 10mins of "hard" riding while on assetto corsa it just never turns on and i feel like i'm driving a real car. I guess if you spend 6 hours setting it up itll be better?
@Jpilgrim309 жыл бұрын
one thing you need to change in the global settings to get the maximum feeling is to add a little deadzone removal range. most of the time .02 is enough. it doesn't add any deadzone it removes the tiny bit of deadzone in the force feedback at center and will give you more feeling in the straights as far as bumps and things like that go. You can add it until you feel oscillations and back off but the best way is to download and run the wheelcheck program and get the exact value. Makes a world of difference and you won't know what your missing until you do it.

Thanks, this and other videos are giving me more and more sense of what those settings actually mean. Do you always keep the settings for the Mz-scale at 200 or was this just done for testing purposes?
@DarossTheGreat9 жыл бұрын
frooglesim I just made a FABULOUS discovery!!! I was playing with the settings and discovered something that completely changed the FFB and the feel. I have a Fanatec CSR wheel and i have been playing with settings for hours now. Long story short, i found that if you set your FFB scale(master vol) too high, OR your Fx, Fy, Fz, or Mz too high, you will clip the signals, INCLUDING WHEEL VIBRATION signals. Not FFB, but dual shock type vibrators in the rim. I know other wheels have this feature. If you open your hud, select the hud with the FFB graph, youll see the FFB line as a yellow line. This vibrator signal is a white line below that. It adds a whole new level of detail... it was a huge surprise to me when my wheel didnt clip and allowed power to those motors. May be to you as well? *** Also, ensure your SoP scale is set to the same value as your Fy scale. Lateral and Differential = 100 The right hander that looks like driving over tree roots, is fully detailed with the wheel hop and jitters and wheel vibration and you can feel all of it if you arent clipping. EDIT**** Sorry but im finding things out lol. The SOP scale MUST be set to the same value, not even a .1 will work, in order to get the added vibration effects(white line). This is what activates it, not the lack of clipping. Actually i think its a broken feature in the sim because it seems to work intermittently... hmmm...
@frooglesim9 жыл бұрын
Donald Rossi That's awesome. thanks for sharing. I'm going to check that out tomorrow. Thanks again
@DarossTheGreat9 жыл бұрын
frooglesim after playing with it a little more im fairly confident that the coding for fanatec wheels isnt finished. I feel like no matter the settings, as long as the wheel wasnt clipping the vibration would be intermittent. Works on some laps, not on others... i made a post on the project cars forum. Well see what people say.

Thanks Froogle, that was a brilliant explanation and it'll give me (& everyone else) a great starting point. I assume you're driving on a PC; looking at your screens, there were a few settings I didn't recognise/remember, but then I haven't used PCars for a while, 'cause I couldn't set it up well enough. Do you know if the settings all translate over to XBOne directly. I haven't got my PC unpacked & set up yet, so for now I'm still on console. Many thanks.

I just bought a used wheel. With raceroom (on pc) force feedback was perfect, or at least usable, since I don't know how good it can get. However, with pcars (on ps4) the forcefeedback was unusable. When accelerating, there is nearly no feedback and as soon as I brake, the force feedback goes nearly to a maximum. (Motor is humming/Fan goes on/must really force the wheel in order to turn it) I've never experienced such a strong force feedback in raceroom and there, even after 1 houre of driving, the fan didn't go on. Is such strong force feedback normal, or is this due to wrong settings?

@OhItsThat8 жыл бұрын
This shit is ridiculous...the game devs should pre set every car up to as close as it would be in real life per car and track combo. Just like your doing here. There's no way I'll ever be able to to set any car up in any game to perform the way it should. There should be a final say tutorial from the devs. If you want this car to perform at optimal on this track this is the settings you need. If you go out of those settings then your personalizing the way the car performs and that's in you.

The issue is that every wheel, wheel driver, and the type of force feedback mechanism used in the wheel like, direct drive, belt drive, gear drive etc. Is going to make it behave differently, they cant make every car completely accurate for every wheel out there.
@motoacker9 жыл бұрын
It's a great informative video Froogle, however I honestly think they should make a patch to fix this issue.I don't think everyone will take the time to finetune the force feadback each and everytime they try a new car which maybe will cause some guys out there to stop playing the game.

BTW Froogle, as you already have found out with the left and right arrow buttons you can skip 15 seconds forward and backward. But when watching the replay you can move forward and backwards as long as you use the look left and right buttons without skipping any frames/sections. I like that much more then skipping 15 seconds at once.

+Rich cove What were you using before the T150?? I just My my T300RS Today, switching from A Thrustmaster T80 on The PS4 & Ferrari 458 Spider on the XBONE, and I must say so far it is a love hate relationship, I'm not at all use to so much sensory from the wheel, because the T80 has a Bungee Cord for centering, but I think in time once I learn to read the feedback and increase my lap times I will love it, but it is laborious working the wheel at 1080° or 900° of wheel rotation LOL. Frooglesim and Darrin Gunji gave excellent starting points hang in there bud, I remember transitioning from A Dpad to my T80, I hated it, but now I love it, hope the learning curve on the T300 is a small one. let us know your progress and wheel settings that you're running now.

If you have never driven a real race car, do you really want to feel all those sensations through the wheel. Would it not be better to just drive to win? Or, is there a real advantage to feeling the sensations through the wheel?
@frooglesim9 жыл бұрын
Gregory P It's not so much about making it "real" as it is about getting good feedback, and having the sim actually use Force Feedback to effectively speak to you about what the car is doing. Since you aren't physically in the car, you miss a lot of cues that you subconsciously pick up in the real world.
@gregpruitt16479 жыл бұрын
Sure, I understand the point. I use the Fanatec GT3 RS with Project Cars. I am playing with settings to improve the feel. However, I have been our driven by guys using Xbox controllers, who feel nothing in the way of feedback. So I ask; does it matter in an appreciable way? Your opinion please.
@Klox779 жыл бұрын
Can somebody explain why the cars auto countersteer them self? Because that's not very realistic..
@rexoid08009 жыл бұрын
+Klox77 its actually completely realistic, it's called the caster affect. "When a vehicle's front suspension is aligned, caster is adjusted to achieve the self-centering action of steering, which affects the vehicle's straight-line stability".
@Mind2kill9 жыл бұрын
+rexoid0800 in a daily street car you want a positive caster affect, in a race car you want a negative caster, so you dont want self-centering steering wheel.. but ye, self-centering is the realistically possible.

I was going to try this with the free Project CARS - Pagani Edition but the pit box is locked out so there is no way to get to the other FF options. It's drive-able and there is some force feedback but it's not elegant in any way. Too bad, if I could have gotten some good FF with this demo then it may have convinced me to buy the full game. Dumb move by the devs.

@frooglesim9 жыл бұрын
Voluntary Insubordinate Make sure you click that Save button. It's confusing because in other parts of the UI on my wheel at least A saves, but on the save screen A just brings up the Save button and X then actually saves. If possible, use a mouse.

frooglesim Err..Froog, If i want to get rid of clipping should i be adjusting both the spindle Master scale and the Sopscale, together ? I'm thinking that adjusting the force feedback slider doesn't have any effect on clipping. And that it should be set to 100.

WTF!? YOU HSVE TO DO THIS NOT ONLY FOR EACH CAR, BUT FOR EACH TRACK AS WELL!?!?!?!?!? HOW MANY MONTHS IS THAT GOING TO TAKE!?!?!?
@kaare19929 жыл бұрын
+Ivansky1 Hopefully not as long, as it will take you to realize writing in all caps is annoying, and will mostly end in a non-pleasant response.
@quachimba9 жыл бұрын
+Ivansky1 I don't do that i use one setting in the profiler and one setting in the software the only things i adjust from car to car NOT track to track because i think thats totally unneccessary is Steering Ratio and Brake pressure and depending on the car i'll change tire pressure. Apart from that FFB stays the same for everything. Trust me thats the best way the rest will just confuse you if you need help to get one setting for everything let me know. As i said you need small adjustments only from car to car apart from that i wouldn't actually change everything for every car and track combo that you use or race on. Remember man feel comfortable when doing this is all you have to rmember i tried so many different settings and everything and none pleased me finally i just set it up how i liked it. I just did one setting at a time. All that i kept without changing it for my g27 is the deadzone removal range which for my G27 due to its hardware i have to set it at 0.16. Thats it the rest of the settings i just set up like i set my cars up. One setting change at a time but not just by little if you are changing one setting and say its a slider that adjusts it then take it all the way left or right thats when you will feel the difference just that setting is doing then adjust it to where you like it. If you don't understand what i mean contact me i'll explain it fully man. Trust me don't get confused with all the bs online about settings and this crap that crap if you can turn the car speed up and get it around the course as fast as you can then that is your setting done and done. rather learn what makes a driver fast like learning the track properly braking right times and hitting the apexs and ofcourse be the smoothest driver you can. That in itself will make you fast... always remember that Smooth = Fast . Fast = Slow you are trying to keep your weight deflection and balance as close to 0 as you can with the smooth movements. Concentrate on that and you'll see even though it seems slower you'll beat your times by 1 and 2 seconds

+quachimba I agree 100%! Once you get the FFB feel you like, the rest is just car tuning, unless you want all your cars to feel the same, but to me that defeats having A variety of make and models, because all cars are not the same. I think it is better to celebrate the differences in the many cars we have, than to assimilate them all to our driving style.
