The biggest problem with this game over other racing sims I've tried is that there's no modding. previous race sims all had large dedicated communities filling in the gaps of missing cars and tracks with their own versions.

This game will get better and better. Slightly Mad studios will not be releasing multiple Project Cars games in the near future, but they will continuously enhance, tweak and expand this game. So I say it is a great investment.

This isn't forza or gta Drivers who race on PCars are serious about racing and we follow the rules of racing to the best of our abilities. If you do get a scumbag in your session they will be DQ really fast if they do to much contact or block an area of the track .

May I add for the novice, this is amazing game. Each car handles to it's year of production and the exhaust notes are the best. I usually play Formula 1 games , but this is truly a great buy.....Go get you won't be disappointed...worht every dollar and more....Can't wait for the next version....

being a massive car game fan,& being an adult(not wanting arcade style racing) I can honestly state this game is the best 'racing sim' on console at the mo. yes it does have some flaws but theres so so much that's bang on. had some incredible races with project cars. I give 8.5 out of 10. my opinion.

They didnt even talk about the career mode. That's the approach of this game that beats GT and forza. The Career Mode is a sports styled driver career where you progress from go karts to F1. That has NEVER been done before to this level in a driving sim. That is the progression system, yes you can jump straight to the highest tier, but you can also make it fun for yourself by starting from the bottom. It's a game tailored to anyway you want it.

The first ever racing title on consoles that actually works perfectly with a wheel, perfect one to one optimised steering on racing wheel peripherals . And 99% of people are using a game pad, lol. Makes me wonder if this will be the first and last of its kind on consoles. I wonder if the next forza or GT game will be optimised for game pads (as usual) or will they have optimised 1,1 steering for racing wheel peripherals like pCARS does.

Great game, however, it is NOT for people who just want to dive in and toss these cars around and expect to bully their way into easy wins. It is a game meant for those who want a realistic and challenging racing experience. It requires patience and a willingness to fiddle around with settings. If i had ONE complaint, it's that the developers didn't do a great job with the default settings, leaving it up to players to spend a lot of time trying to figure it all out on their own. The wheel settings are a handful. I DO think that more customization options are a good thing, but many people are going to find it extremely intimidating to stick with it. Overall it's an AMAZING race title that FINALLY shows what the next gen consoles are capable of. It's realistic take on the genre is a refreshing, outside the box take on racing titles. It is EASILY the best, and most realistic racer in console history, and sets the bar really high for anyone developing race games on the next gen consoles.

I always hated the grind to unlock the things I want in games, I played Gran Turismo 6 for hours upon hours and never got enough cash to unlock the F1 cars. This game however does exactly what i've wanted from video games my whole life, it's a sandbox, it gives you every car and track from the very beginning! In my personal experience with racing games i've always preferred arcade games like F1 Challenge and Sega Rally over sims like rFactor, but I love when the two genres blend together, games like Forza and Gran Turismo offer both the customisation and physics of a sim as well as the pick up and play aspect of an arcade racer. My personal ideal game is one that balances the sim and arcade elements along with not restricting what you can do. To me this game is like when I used to play with my toy cars as a kid, no limit to what you can do!

I'm a big fan of Forza, have been marathoning FM6 for the last month and a half. Then I picked this up (for XBO) four days ago. Even though the game is quite buggy, I can't put it down! I only wished I had a proper PC to enjoy this on! I love the fact that you can blow your engine due to mechanical overrev (e.g., missed downshift to 2nd from 5th); the fact that you can actually read the dials in cockpit view (boo Forza...PC let's you toggle headlights); the fact that the FFB feels 5x sweeter than Forza does with my G920 wheel setup; the fact that I have real time weather, and can toggle both weather and time settings. I also have to say that manual w/ a clutch is much more realistic on PC. Put the gear in 1st, clutch down, and slowly ease up on the clutch = the car will creep forward just like in real life. Last but not least, although Forza's tracks are laser scanned, they did not seem to account for vertical elevation (road bumpiness) - Nordschleife is much more challenging in PC due to how bumpy it is.

Im 14 and im into cars and racing games but im used to games like need for speed, yes i know how much of a simulation it is, and i do know how alot of the tuning options work, but the problem is im getting it for ps4... and i dont have a wheel and cant afford one right now... is the game still worth spending 60 dollars now? The thing is all the things you complained about ( excluding the Ai ) is what real racers have to do. Before every race they have too set up the cars for each track as they're all different. The littlest things will upset the car in real life and all cars feel different from each other. The difference between a road car and a GT3 is huge and project cars captures this perfectly. Fuck forza and GT and is semi-sim racing this is what you want

Danny's reading of the review, which is clearly pointed out he didn't write, is quite monotone and dull which is a bit of a shame.. no offence.. Also it is true that Porsche isn't included although in one shot is shown what appears to be a 911, I guess it was a RUF Porsche which most games include since EA hold the licence for the use of actual Porsche cars. I haven't played the game, its seems to have polarised many. It's not arcade but not a sim but yet appears to have a steep learning curve and no doubt with a controller would be difficult and I believe requires quite a bit of tweaking to get right, even on a console. This like DiRT Rally (which is PC only) is a fan and community focused title which is also on consoles, which make things interesting since most of Codemasters previous tiles have also been on console so the early access focus of DiRT Rally is a new approach for them and the gamble is I guess a bit easier with only one platform to support. I got a wheel recently for DiRT Rally and Assetto Corsa etc as I got frustrated with a controller. And based on the reviews I checked for those titles and this one the advice is to look into getting a wheel on which I agree. I think the desire to increase the reach of a title, i.e. a more sim-like title being sold to console players with game pads causes a few issues. There are references to Ben Collins the former "Stig" from Top Gear being involved in the development of Project Cars, to what degree I'm not sure, and it's a not a pure sim, anyway he's pointed out that Gran Turismo, a console only title, doesn't cut it for him which maybe says a lot. Will be interesting to see how the next GT, for PS4 only I assume, turns out to be.

It's an enjoyable game but it isn't quite finished yet. Wit hall the delays i expected a pretty solid game straight out of the box but AI, FFB and audio to name a few aren't quite there yet.

The xBox One version has a lot of issues that are supposedly being worked on. Apparently they outsourced the testing of the xBox version and they did a crappy job at it. There are some things that you can do to reduce the chronic issues (like the game just crashing to the start screen) that are on the official forum. As for gameplay the biggest issues are the controller/wheel problems if you ask me. I race with a TX and the FFB is extremely light and difficult to dial in and it has to be done for each car. Even then it's not perfect because you don't feel the braking at all so you can't really tell if the tires are loaded going into a turn....hopefully that is being worked on as the PC version is supposedly a lot better in this regard. I think that a lot of people do compare it to Forza 5 and that's what I am coming from. I love the fact that I don't have to buy cars in order to use them, but more importantly the cars in Forza are absolute garbage out of the gate. They are simply un-drivable without going in and either using a calculator to set them up, spending hours trying to work out exactly why it sucks or downloading a locked set up that you have no idea why it works. The cars here all drive very well from the beginning and you can tell if it just needs a tweak to the sway bar because of a turn or if the left front tire heats up too much. With that said you have to adjust the FFB settings on every car individually in order to actually feel the damn thing at all. I can't for the life of me understand why they didn't at least create a basic setting for each car rather than a default "numbass" setting. As far as the AI is concerned I think that Forza has it beat pretty badly with the drivatar system. But for me the thing that I enjoy about it so far is that I can pick a car, pick a track, spend some time learning it, setup the car and then race. But more importantly is that if I run the best race that I could and still come in 3rd place I am still satisfied. I have heard that online multiplayer is a real crapshoot between not being able to find a lobby or it just dumping you in the middle of a race. If they can fix the issues I think that it's a winner. Right now I wouldn't recommend the xBox version to anyone because it's got issues that are going to cause a lot of frustration and waste your time.

Don't agree with certain parts of this review. This is a game that can be tuned to the casual and the total simulation style game player. Been playing this game since launch and the amount of detail is excellent. Love how u can tweak the AI to a difficulty that suits you. I'm not one for the total sim style of racing. I play it somewhere in the middle. I have played Driveclub, The Crew, Forza Horizon 2 etc and it is definitely my favourite of the current gen racers. If u are a casual racing game fan or a total simulation racing game fan, this sits in the perfect spot 9/10 x

Christopher Nixon you can do that in this. There are various career routes to take. Start off in karts and depending how well you do you'll be offered contracts for the next season. I went from karts, to super karts to Formula Rookie (Formula Ford) and was also invited to participate in various other races including a historic race in which i drove a mk 1 Escort. So it's there if you want it. I think people get hung up on the 'all cars are available from the get go' thing.

The AI can be a real challenge if you put it at a higher difficulty, after a few tries I found that almost near the ACE level I ended up having some real though races having to play with strats and setups to have real fun. Also you can't fully enjoy this game without a racing wheel, IMO. Not with the physics it has.

caleb slagle It's because EA own the rights for Porsche cars so no games other than EA titles include them. There are I assume RUF Porsche in the title, same as in Assetto Corsa or Raceroom Experience, so there technically is Porsche if only a few versions of a few specific models

played this i dont like everything unlocked it doesnt have anything to aim for except gamer score thats it and if thats all it offers then i just cant keep playing it the physics are good and looks good but thats it id rather play forza 6 that kept me playing the game this didnt sadley and the dlcs arnt interesting enough to buy them cos once you drive them your done with the cars.

The sounds are more authentic than any other console racing game. Until Assetto Corsa releases anyway. And yeah, as it's a pure sim unlike Gran Turismo and Forza it's pretty bad on a controller.
