I totally agree, Benny. We've been living our lives here, avoiding the constant panic porn. We have friends doing the same, appreciating the good things, especially the good people, and not stressing about things we can't change anyway. Our weather changes a lot (Colorado), but whatever it is, I try to enjoy it, because all my attempts to change it have failed. Life is good. Homesteadonomics is just one more thing to appreciate and value.

Thank you Seth! We live in a crazy world and I feel many people have lost their ability to discern amidst the fear that is constantly spread. But I also feel more folks are getting up courage to turn think for themselves and make the best decisions for them that they can. And having a little bit of light to look to can kinda keep their heads and spirits “above water” to continue making the swim to the other side. (Hopefully that made sense🤷♂️😂)

Yes I feel you! Unfortunately it seems to take a dark time like this to wake people up to that fact that people and institutions that they once trusted are FAR from being as noble and well intentioned as they once seemed. Although it seems painfully slow for many folks to realize…I do think more people are seeing it each day! And I’m glad you liked the hold the line shirt. It might help to have a trap at your weep hole for the condensate. You would need a pressure relief valve to go with this but it would let you have control over the pressure in the box and would make the wood saturate somewhat better and maybe faster. I'm not an expert in wood bending but I have extensive knowledge with steam production and control. What your doing is good enough, this might be something to look into to have better control over the process. Thanks for leaving us with a positive vibe this year. I'm in Tennessee and white oak would be hands down better than red oak for steam bending. Red oak is the more durable but white oak is more flexible. In rocking chairs you want the runners to be red oak and the body to be white oak.
@homesteadonomics3 жыл бұрын
Well these are all awesome tips that you!!! I agree, the relief valve and trap at the weep hole would help a lot. I think I could cut a vertical slot on a threaded bolt to act as a rough pressure valve if I simply had the slot shallower towards the head. That way the threading of the bolt in would gradually close that opening a bit. And I also appreciate the info about the red versus white oak too!!!

Make an adjustable vent hole near the front of the steamer box. With the pressure buildup and only having a weep hole, the back of the box will be hotter than the front. adding a vent will flow the steam to the front, giving a more even heat.
@homesteadonomics3 жыл бұрын
Thank you…, that makes total sense. I think I remember seeing something like that in on of the image searches. But just totally forgot to add it. But it seems that it would help with the pressure and heat flow.

Happy New Year Mr. Joe and family, I really enjoy your videos! Like your Hold the line Tee shirt also. Thank you for mentioning God in your videos! When you were explaining the signs of the times these scriptures came to mind. Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. 2Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Thank you God Bless!

Thank you John! And I love those scriptures you pointed out! I have been a believer my whole life but these past two years have put things more into perspective. I went from saying a daily prayer before this craziness happened to praying multiple times a day. I’m still far from where I want to be but I’m seeking His guidance more and more….versus just trying to pave my own path and occasionally seeking His wisdom. I wish you and your family the very best in this new year! God Bless you too🙏😊

Thank you J Eric! I’ve got many projects slated to use this as well! And I very much agree that God has His plan, even if we don’t currently understand why all this is taking place. And I also believe that the truth will win out in the end, much like the 1930/40’s atrocities. The people perpetuating this insanity will be held accountable eventually. And hopefully like those times, “Just following orders” also will not hold up in court.

Well, all I can say is that you are doing it right. Family has to come first. I’m very much the same. When I come home from a shift the first priority is to spend time with my wife and daughter. Playing games, hanging out, all the good stuff. But I try to work on my projects when we have breaks for things that my daughter/wife have to do…. homeschool stuff, play dates, etc,. Which is why my projects videos aren’t as frequent as a lot of other dedicated channels. I gotta work them in between family time, work, etc,. Evenings after bed time or just an hour in between other things. But the priority is always them😊 So if my projects take a bit more time then so be it. Happy New year!

Great video. Your steam box really looks like it will work well. The construction makes it look like there may be more wood bent projects in the future. I grew up with my dad always saying, a man meant to hang will never drown. I don’t know if that meant he believed in pre-destination or that worrying about things beyond your control is a waste of time. Just do what you want to stay safe and healthy. Are you going to be tying the net yourself or opting for a nice silicone net? Thanks for sharing and have a Happy New Year.

Thank you Thomas! I am opting for the pre made silicone net, as I’m sure my net tying skills might not be up to par and look off. As for that saying, it does kinda leave the interpretation open a bit. But I can get the gist of it. My father in law likes a saying that goes like this. And I’m surmising a bit…. ‘A man is invincible until the will of God is done with him’….. essentially saying that if there are things that are destined for you by your creator, then until those things are done/accomplished then your life won’t be over. Of course because we are human and subject to worry, doubt, or whatever…..it is always a puzzling and vexing proposition. What are we meant for? Where are we going? What’s our purpose? And I guess we only will fully know after we pass on🤔 Anyways, always great hearing from you and I hope you and your family are blessed with a wonderful new year!😊🙏 Joe

I made it. Look in my travel trailer playlist or just search for ‘diy battery box travel trailer’ or something like that and it should come up👍😀

Great video, and Happy New Year. Also what make of watch are you wearing?
@homesteadonomics3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Ben! And a happy new year to you as well. The watch is a timex weekender with the dark face and chronograph buttons. Lots of different models in that line.

I like this because I want to build a steam box. My project will to build my own cane out of an oak sapling.

3:23 LOL 😂 I'm actually surprised you didn't speed up the video right there for "bionic" speed sawing. 😂

It would’ve been to quick a clip in that case😂

Plans!? We don't need no steenkeen plans!! LOL

‘By eye’ is my favorite plan. Look at a couple pics and just guesstimate my way to a ‘somewhat’ finished result. Sometimes it works and other times not so much. But then again…, those ‘not so much’ ones don’t end up being videos😂

@@homesteadonomics "A Blind Man would be Happy to SEE that"... and "Close enough for government work" has bit me in the butt more than once! BUT... I'm getting REALLY GOOD at CUTTING TO FIT!! LOL

Really interesting video :) Did you have to build a former too?
@homesteadonomics3 жыл бұрын
I’ll show the form for the bent pieces in the fishing next video where I’ll laminate the bent strips together to make. I haven’t quite gotten the form done yet…fiddling with some ideas still…haha
