As winter drags on, i've started work on a longer term plan to build a 347 Ford stroker for my Factory Five MK4 Cobra from a 1989 Ford 5.0 Engine.
For the build I'm recycling parts as I go, one of which is the oil pump. Simple part / time to clean it up and repurpose!

Def Leppard and flaming corvettes, this video has it all. The Cobra was jealous it didn`t get any parking lot donuts.

5.0 roller cam motors are very versatile, cheap and effective.

I love them / they are small and make great power for their size. And they sound great too! Plenty of aftermarket parts also-

An aluminum pump is 1.6lb lighter than the melling cast iron. Or $1120 worth of titanium bolts. Or 2.5% of an aluminum 351s savings. PS love the nod to regular car reviews.

Most of the time a melling pump is a cheap easy upgrade!

I've never wasted my time cleaning and re-using an old OEM aluminum oil pump. The new cast iron body HV pumps are cheap and even a new pump needs to be disassembled, checked and cleaned before bolting on the engine, but at least it's not some greasy ol POS that probably should just go in the metal recycle anyway. To each his own, but I like new stuff.

All great points / I like the idea of a cast iron body too for piece of mind / will consider that on future engine builds
