I totally agree! I have personally known a few people who were totally blind or straight on their way and one is in my life now. I knew all except only one person before they lost their sight. And one person who lost her sight was my mom before she passed away. I still love you mom, even though we didn't always get along. RIP MOM! 😘💞

Very wholesome Google. Would it be hard for it to adjust to people coming from the opposite direction and covered the track somehow? And also the blind lane on the sidewalk is bumpy, its not a smooth surface. Have you guys figured out how to get that in the app?

With my degenerative disease, Retinitis Pigmentosa, it was only a matter of time before my peripheral vision shrank to the point of preventing outside exercise. As someone that has averaged 500-1000 miles of running per year for 20 years now, it's always been a looming depression, but now I have hope! Like Mr. Panek and the other participants in the video stated: moving w/o any assistance is such an incredibly freeing feeling. I'm so happy to know that there are individuals & companies creating methods for people of low-vision to independently experience the sighted world.

With good enough mapping of a safe centre-line for walking paths/pavements/sidewalks plus some vision recognition then it should be possible to take away the reliance on. A painted line and guide people anywhere. We have been doing research in guiding people with blindness - and deaf-blindness to public transport vehicles for several years here in Gothenburg, Sweden. While there are a number of technical issues still to be solved, the premise of using haptic (vibrating) devices to navigate works very well. But the problem of enough mapping data and phones not necessarily orienting their compass correctly are bigger issues.

This things are very important and thanks to all the developers who took part in it. I can see but my relative doesn't. This and other technologies make his life easier and happier. Sometimes I had another ideas. What if we take pin array, attach it to palms and "display" there picture from the camera. It may help in space orientation. Not sure how to transform the picture, maybe depth should also be integrated.
