Rant start: I wish Google would do something with autistic people. Most people don't know this, but you can look this up. Those of us with a college degree 85% of us are unemployed. Only 12% of us can make enough to actually live on our own. The far far far majority of us deal with extreme workplace harassment, and the far majority of us tend to not be able to hold a job for a long period of time. I remember a few times when I was interviewing for a job I was harassed for how I talk and think during the interview. Some of us that is high functioning have a hard time with driving or other task from sensory overload and our brain having to work on overtime since it has a hard time filtering out only the needed info. In the USA we honestly can't get disability, expect SSI. And that has a cutoff if you have more than $2000 in items, and it only pays $750 a month at max and this number hasn't changed since 1989. Many areas that done studies found 65% to 80% of the homeless is autistic depending on the area. Like I can get into the ins and outs. Like how in some areas in the USA we are locked up in mental hospitals and they put shock collars and bracelets which activate if the staff sees us doing something they don't like, something that they don't view as normal, or if they malfunction. All the way from sometime late 1800 to early 1970s in the USA we had a chance of getting our reproductive organs taken out simply for being different. Even today we have a risk of getting a lobotomy depending on the mental hospital if we are sent to one. But today they use electricity. This can cause the brain to tell the muscles to tighten up that they rip and cause bones to break. My point is, while I think Google being apart of things like this is great. It should be noted that many of us are out of luck between having a normal life, society treating us like human, and so on. But we tend to not get any help even from companies like Google simply because we don't look disabled, and we simply been treated bad for so long and don't have the support from society itself. Google talks about diversity in some of their videos. How about actually hiring autistic people if they can do the job, not firing them if they are able to do the job, don't tolerate harassment, and audit to make sure you are doing the right thing. Rant end: Anyways I'm highly interested in the technology they added to the house to help him. I also have to wonder how much these people have to stay in this group home. But I wish instead of group homes is they gave them houses in an area. Like they aren't actually independent since they have to live in a group home.

@@patty7791 I think they do their best to a point to not paint a extreme bad light on us. But the image they paint isn't all that accurate. Sure some autistic people have extreme problems to the point they will shut down simply from the buzzing of a light. But most who would be in that job wouldn't. That or know how to at least adapt until they can get to the bathroom and reset. The problem is, showing the real world of things is boring and for this I understand why the show goes to an extreme. But I think it's more harmful than not because the show makes us out to be a walking library (which almost none of us is), but someone that can be highly unpredictable and dangerous. Now my biggest problem with the entire thing is while I like the actor. I really wish Hollywood would start hiring actual autistic people. Like it's very rare for openly autistic people to be hired. And the majority of time they just hire some random consultant so they won't get in trouble with slang or whatever, and that they can get some points from audience members that don't look at it deeper than surface level. Lets put it this way. Even down to political offices it is a problem. Like there was articles written mid of last year on the FIRST openly autistic political person elected. And it was for a school board office or something like that. Talking to many who can get work, they mention that they never disclose they are autistic. However, they also have a hard time keeping a job longer than a year and half on average. Anyways, thanks for looking into this and thanks for caring. If you really want to help, small actions like asking your local areas what programs they have to help and support those who are disabled and have a hard time working or keeping employment. Ask what programs are there to help families in the area dealing with a disabled adult who can't keep a job or can't work. If you work for a major company, ask similar questions. The truth is, most places and companies don't have any support system. Most don't even know to think about it or don't think the problem is worth solving. Or they might even think there isn't a problem, and they blame us for not working while not hiring us. (this is why I'm in favor for a UBI program world wide for disabled people who make below a given amount per year.)

Incentive structures... If this was a co-op it'd be different. The difference between a black mirror episode and a truly sustainable solution is the incentive structure and a private company posing as a "public corporation" or worse a corporate person only had one incentive structure. If they could force everyone into the same "community" they would. In fact they're being sued for it right now. Firebase uses everyone else's device to track everyone else's location through wifi Mac IDs. Google glass may have "pushed against the creepy line" as Eric Schmidt stated as their goal, but it crossed it. So as soon as Steve Jobs died and the lawsuits were settled by their hiding behind Samsung blaming them for profiting from Android while at the time they claimed they merely sponsored an open source operating system (though they made 4 billion at time of record in 2011) they took Google glass and broke it up into 3 device with the unveiling of the pixel 1 with its unlimited photo uploads, in standardised resolution and location tags to feed their image processing algorithm. Why it's called the pixel. What is you get with a whole lot of pixels? A clearer picture was the inside joke. They released it along side the Google buds and the Google snap a body camera that'd randomly take picture "for you" and ear buds paired with their primary feature Google assistant, an always on data siphon using every sensor at once including the mic so that ("you can use to see the titles of all the music you heard all day"). Google glass didn't end. It just broke into enough pieces it'd cut through everything and we wouldn't feel it. When Eric Schmidt was asked if you should warna guest entering your home if you had a Google assistant plugged in he said "of course I would". But he also was famous for his edgy trollish quotes like "if you are concerned about privacy maybe you shouldn't be doing it" funny how I can't even enter their cafeteria to interview their workers even though their cafeterias are often styled as if they are local restaurants that always seem to be "holding special engagements".

@@user-vu2yb1gy4l lets just say.... the disability rights movement truly has not even started... for example: deeming Black people as “wise in the ways of the heart & body” and/or “better-attuned to nature & miracles” is widely-seen as a racist generalization, despite describing a _positive_ attribute. but these same attributes (wise in the ways of the heart & body, better-attuned to nature & miracles) are *NOT* seen as innaccurate ableist generalizations when applied to the disabled populace!!! we disabled are the people who are said to have “ran thru the finish line of the special olympics holding hands” as if this is a compliment to our pure untainted hearts, and not a ridiculously-infantilizing insult to our intelligence, independent ambition and individuality.
