Hey Ogaga! I have a question... So when looking for a position in project management, how do you know that you're qualified to do the job if you have no clue about a particular field? I'm sure it helps, but are you required to be proficient in a specific field? For example: If I don't have a healthcare background and I want a PM role in healthcare, will the unfamiliarity of programs, policies, and other field related resources, etc. make it difficult for me to do well within the role?

Great question. Having knowledge of the field will definitely help you do well. However, the knowledge can be acquired on the job. You have to be willing to learn via various means to ensure you deliver on the role. For example, I have managed treasure operations projects and I don't have a treasury or finance background. It wasn't easy but I delivered at the end. I asked lots of questions, studied a lot and succeeded. So, it's possible but be ready to do the hard work of learning the basics at the very least.

Thank you for this video. Quit insightful. However, for someone who has been in the government transport sector, what sector do you think i should look out for? Secondly, how do you install a job tracker?

You're welcome. For sectors, you could consider government or transportation. A job tracker is a document you use to keep record of the jobs you're applying to so that you can follow up on them and generally keep track of the process.

Thank you so much for these tips and all the teachings on your channel. What tips would you give to someone who has had different random jobs bfr...I have worked in Nigeria as a research assistant- data collector, owned a fashion business, been a teacher also a caterer at some point...before I moved to canada...been learning about project management...learnt on my own and even have a PMP and CSM...Been learning from a lot of youtube videos, udemy courses etc...but I have found your page to be most helpful. How does someone like me know which area to actually target in my resumes and applications

Also how does the tracker work?
@ogagajohnson

@olubukolaesho-oluborode755 when you apply for a job, you include the job details and attach the resume used (if it was used) in the tracker including the date applied as well. You use the tracker to record any follow ups, interviews etc and manage the job search and application process. I hope this helps

@olubukolaesho-oluborode755 thanks for writing to me. I'll say first thing first, is to identify the projects you've worked on across your various experiences and create a project based resume. This means that for each experience, you highlight the projects you worked on as the experience. Also, remember that you don't have to include all your work experiences in your resume. Include only the ones that highlight your projects and project experiences the most. Hope this helps.
