Ive never done a project pan but i enjoy watching others achieve their goals. To be real, a skincare one is probably what i should focus on, along with a no buy of any more skincare for many months 😂

Great Project Pan for 2024! Really inspiring! I’m a bit late but will start my full face Project Pan products this weekend!

I've been watching project panners for years and have half-heartedly tried it the last two, but this year I'm getting serious. I'm starting slow with just 5 makeup items (as I've felt overwhelmed by any more than that previously) and I'm properly tracking them this time by taking photos, weighing them, and tracking the number of uses. My skin and body care stash is under control so I don't feel the need to introduce anything from that category, but I have a lot of hair styling products, due to having wavy hair that I can also wear straight, so I might introduce some of those if the makeup panning goes well. Happy new year to you and your family. Your content inspires me 🙂

I am not project panning but for a living I write coding so I've created an inventory of my eyeshadow palettes and also foundations and day to day I click a button and the programme selects a palette and a foundation for me to wear. The geek in me loves it! It's making me use products I don't necessarily reach for on a regular basis and it's exciting to shop my stash!

I’m doing a combo of everyday makeup drawer with a project pan. My collection isn’t huge, but there’s a few parts where the amount of options overwhelm me when I’m getting ready quickly in the mornings. The items that I only have one or two of, I’m trying to hit pan in or use up completely (I have some liners and brow pencils that need to go!), but some of my shadow pallets and blushes, I’m choosing one or two of each month to have in my everyday bag. That way I don’t get tired of what I’m using but I’m still using my whole stash!

This is so much fun! I have my own project pan for my makeup products since I have too many and while I enjoy them all, I want to make sure that I use them as much as possible. I had an eyebrow powder from Illamasqua which took me about 3+ years to use. The funny thing is that after a while I bought it again.😅 Good luck with your project! May we use up all the products that we focus on this year!😎

For a project pan this year I am using trials. I save them for travel, but I seem to have a lot! I'm also panning eyeshadows in palettes then tossing the palettes when done. Kind of a declutter as well.

I'm really rational when it comes to skin care, I have what I use and replace each product when I finish it, but when it comes to make-up... I'm like a kid in a sweet factory. I do the slowest pan project, each time I do my make-up, I use a different product, this way I use all my make-up products ( except the summer foundation when is winter (now, in Europe). Exited to see the sheet masks pan project & the conclusion. ☺️
@KitschSnitch11 ай бұрын
I used to be very similar to you! I still don’t buy too much skincare at once, but I do like to buy 2 or 3 items while on sale instead of buying once each time I finish something up. I tend to have one thing out and then a backup or two under my sink, and I no longer buy things that I might not use… I only buy what I know works. I also used to rotate my makeup a lot (I still do, but not every day - and I use the 80% project pan rough rule). I’ve noticed since having kids I don’t have time to explore my collection and decide what I’m using every day, so that’s when my project pan stash comes in handy, it cuts my makeup application time easily by half! Gone are the days of leisurely 45min makeup applications… I’m lucky to have 10min to do it most days 😅

I'm not up for trying a full face project pan because I don't wear makeup every day and I don't like feeling like I have to restrict myself to certain products when I do, but definitely want to wear my makeup more often, and I think I might try to use up my Kiko Milano cream highlighter because it's getting a bit old (it still works fine though and already has pan showing), and I've got a few sample and travel perfumes I'd like to use up, too. Jouer highlighters are insanely intense. I have Rose Quartz and rarely use it because it's just too much. I mostly use Bobbi Brown Pink Glow and the Kiko highlighter because they're very pretty and nowhere near as intense (I'd say Bobbi Brown is probably on a similar level of intensity as the Nabla, and the Kiko is just a smidge less intense but not too subtle).

Yay! what a treat on a Saturday night in the US, thanks for thinking of us for an early release! 🎉 🍷💄 I'm over-collected with skin care and foundation. Some of it is a search to find what looks good, or do what I need them to do. Some is what used to look good doesn't anymore. I feel really clogged just trying to settle on what to pan with these. I keep thinking, look, you overdid it, just a reality that throwing out is going to happen. Blush: continuing on the Lisa Eldridge, I have pan in the compact I pressed the clay-based blush into. But around that pan is uneven mounds. It's cracking a little as it dries, but still ok. Also using Tom Ford glow stick with blush/highlighter on each end. I'm going to focus on cream-type eyeshadows. One is Chanel Illusion d'ombre in New Moon, kinda a classic now and discontinued, it's a jelly texture so I need to get use out of it. Then I have Trinny London pots eyeshadow and also blush/lip gloss combos. Trinny is geared toward mature women who want a very light, natural makeup look. So I end up using a lot of product just to get it to show. My oily skin/skincare eat the shades so I have to reapply, making these quick to use up.

Good call on the highlighters, surprised at the colour in pan and the colour on face difference, rolled my items over and I’ve given oldest products priority but free to use other products (faves) if going out or out out, no eyeshadow palettes in as I’ve put them in alphabetical brand groups and wrote all the letters on pieces of paper then blindly pick one out on a Sunday and any brands with that letter I can use for the week, this way I’m hoping to get good use out of my collection and to test out what brands/ formulas/ colours I like 😊❤

I added in a couple extra things so I would have the 24 in 24. Inspired by you and your sheet mask collection, I've added my small pile to the list of items. And then a sub-project of 12 lipsticks that I don't want to finish, but want to get some more wear out of them to see if they're okay to keep beyond the end of the year. They don't smell bad etc, but they're quite old at this point, so keen to move them on to create some more space in the cupboard!

I can use Nikkia's powder all year round, I use fragrance free one. (Get on ff train your skin will thank me) but tips for panners: use lightly to set your sunscreen if no-makeuping or on ur neck/chest. Also solved a problem w/powder/mineral foundation. Use as primer! Need big cover but it highlights my huge pores/lines and I don't have time for liquid primers or I always get a grabby spot even if I wait to let it dry. NJC sets down my sunscreen fast and doubles as a porefiller and waaaaaaaay improves how my LG powders look on me. Then I just setting spray hard (that is your friend when you are in your 40s and oily).

Def will be tracking my products used vs purchased again which organically motivates me to pan. Focusing on opened foundations, glosses, cream products & whatever is older or close to finished. I am starting my first project pan that I am tracking. It has skincare, makeup, and one body product. I have e started with my longest open or oldest products. I have also vowed to be cutthroat when it comes to products I know I don't love. I have done unofficial panning in the past and refused to declutter things that I absolutely hated and all it did was make me not want to use makeup! Snapped and threw out 6 years of hording in '23. Spent a lot replacing, still overboard, very minimal for me tho. Lot of mid/high end minis, that satiates need for choice w/less waste. That's my new approach. No palettes at all other than Jellyfish (very versatile) but some minis/mini eye sticks (holiday collections really helped). The real $$ was (per usual) base. Tiny compared to my usual ways though. I'm on no-buy in 24. Skincare I've settled and using it all up. That's easier for me 'cos I'm cr. free (unless gifted/sampled/sisters-niece swap), fragrance free and very dermatologist-based so I don't get tempted by silly fads/consumerism like I do w/makeup. I'm trying. Makeup is my one area of consumerist weakness (that and books).

What is the difference between a highlighter and an eyeshadow? An expensive single shadow Charlotte I’m looking at your super shots.
@hazardsigns11 ай бұрын
Eyeshadow tends to be more pigmented and highlighters more finely milled/thinner. You can absolutely use an eyeshadow as a highlighter, I have a few I regularly use. Also vice versa, I sometimes top my eye look with my highlighter. It gives a nice cohesion x

@@hazardsigns I bought the mini Bobbi Brown Pink Glow highlighter in 2016 (natch) and I recently discovered I love it on my eyes as a oneNdun look
@KitschSnitch11 ай бұрын
What @hazardsigns said. They are essentially the same thing but different features are favoured more in each. Eg an eyeshadow is generally preferred to be more pigmented and give a bold effect on the eye, and highlighters are usually focused more on being sheerer, and focused on enhancing the skin without emphasising texture and lines. So there are formula differences, but they are also interchangeable.

Not a noticeable one. If anything it seems to taste more like lanolin, but if you are very sensitive to SPF taste there might be a very slight hint. For some reason I bought four face powders last year. I mean, what the heck? 😂 I don’t have much makeup at all, I usually have to finish a product before I allow myself to purchase a new one. In January 2023 I decided to buy some lip liners, which I don’t usually wear, so this year I will try to pan at least 2 of my 4 liners. And obviously pan some of those powders. 😂

If it makes you feel better this was my 2023 on face powders. NJC Velvet (full size, this is a staple, due for replacement) and then in came minis for: Hourglass, Laura Mercier, KVD Lock It (yeah, it was surprise in-stock for 2 seconds for $17 on Sephora in December. Better late than never?) and One/Size. Then someone made me buy e.l.f. Halo Glow. In fairness to me, horses for courses. For a shorter day/lighter look Hourglass is beautiful/less heavy than NIkkia. Glow can be used to look less matte (I need matte), LM for when some of my foundations clash (it's the only one that works for the new Smashbox) and I can't really explain anything else. Let's not talk about pressed powders. 2023 was the year of "I need to find a powder foundation I like". Things got...messy and expensive.
