To track these storms, and to predict where they might go. I swear, it really requires a low IQ in absolutely no critical thinking skills to slap on a tinfoil hat. It absolutely makes sense that a category 5 storm would form in the gulf, and it absolutely makes sense that a category 5 storm would form in the Gulf in late September, early October. It's almost as if there are decades, even centuries of this happening that scientists rely on to make models, and predictions. The simulation is very similar to what's going on, because it's very similar to other storms that have formed in the past.

Imagine if 2004's Hurricane Ivan or 2005's Hurricane Dennis or Hurricane Wilma had taken this track... Recent storms, like 2019's Lorenzo and both Larry and Sam of 2021, have shown that strong and large systems can absolutely pile up the storm surge potential. In this scenario, the storm surge would be that of a low-end Category 4 storm since it strengthened so close to land and didn't have the chance to build up a massive wall of waves in front of it. Someone mentioned having a house at an elevation of 52 feet in that area. In this scenario, that person is relatively safe. In a scenario where a storm enters the Gulf of Mexico as, say, a 140mph Category 4 and rapidly intensifies, however, even 52 feet of elevation might not be enough.

Because Tampa is a very vulnerable City to a massive hurricane, project Phoenix was originally designed around how to rebuild after a catastrophic hurricane. The simulation is to give you an idea of what a category 5 storm making landfall in Tampa would look like. Absolute devastation, storm surge beyond anything we've ever seen before, and total decimation of the downtown area. All surrounding cities would be affected, and possibly even destroyed. Rather than sitting around with their thumbs up their asses, local and state officials put together a plan of action on how to deal with the worst case scenario. I really don't know if this is going to be the one or not. It really seems like it's going to weaken before it hits, and it might even hit south of us.
