I've been a long time hater of the World War 2 experience in Project Reality, but in the spirit of giving it a second try with PR's new WW2 update on the horizon, I found myself pleasantly surprised by the experience I had.

So many memories from PR. I remember being like 12 years old, joined a random Australian server because I didn't know what ping was, no clue what I'm supposed to do, never played the game before, but fortunately a bunch of Australian dudes taught me what to do step by step even though I was obviously a kid and didn't even speak english well, but I still had the time of my life and that's definitely where my love for mil sims started!

The thing is, you need enough people to populate the server. There are tons of servers with no players on them that are live. It's not really an issue of needing another server, we need more players.

The issue when we started the slorgs server up (basically the merk server with a different name) is you'd have to be there everyday from 7am gmt 7 days a week. This is why hog now the pit is successful American admins in the EU mornings, EU admins during the evenings

I never understood WW2 in PR, I've played my fair share of that era based rounds and it doesn't feel anywhere near as good as more modern era based conflicts. Hopefully the future update improves the WW2 experience. Forgotten Hope nailed it on a smaller scale. As for PR itself, it needs a few more dollars in the bank to get more development in, as old as the engine is I think it still has plenty to expand upon. For now it would be dope to see rebuilt character fps animations, redone asset textures with higher resolution, and fix the weird helicopter physics.

I love almost everything about Squad, but here's the one reason BF2 and PR are better: Visibility. I love sloppy fumbling gunfights, was a joy since Red Orchestra, but not even getting to enjoy the sight of seeing my target go down, is anti-climactic as hell. In the pursuit of realism, war games are at a point where you cannot see shit.

They're different mods. PR WW2 is incorporated into PR. Forgotten Hope is a separate BF2 modpack

my issue with PR is that total lack of singleplayer support, in know its not the devs job, but i would have expected the community to do atleast something with the ai at this point.

The game has bots. You can literally make a local player vs ai server on almost all the maps in the game whenever you want. I'd argue that's pretty good single player support

How old is your laptop? Is it a 386? I can run PR with maxed out graphics no problem on a laptop with a 1.8GHz Celeron mobile CPU with 4 GBs RAM and Intel 660HD integrated video!

Project Reality, the free tactical gaame that includes Modern setting, Vietnam setting, and WW2 setting. To me, personally, Project Reality rivals Arma when it comes to it's tactics. Squad, Post Scriptum, and Hell Let Loose WISH it was as tactical as PR.

Helicopters, APCs and IFVs are the spice of PR. In other words high mobility with decent armor is the spice of PR. WW2 doesn't have any of this, so i will always hate it. I am really sad that the devs are focusing on WW2 currently.

I get your opinion and also share it to a large degree, but I also enjoy WW2 PR and am glad the devs are working to improve it. I'll never forget the first game I (and many others) played when WW2 PR Beta was released, and the total bloodbath that was Omaha Beach! It took the Allied team what felt like 1000 respawns each before we even made it off the sand! Hella frustrating but also hell fun.
