Follow the journey of the 3rd S54-swapped E46 touring (wagon) build I've done, this time on what was originally a 325xi which the previous owner started a ZHP swap on, and didn't finish. I completed that recently, but given I'll soon have a spare S54 I figured, why not put that into the alpine car?
Currently, this chassis has about 135k miles and was clearly taken care of. The ZHP donor parts are sitting around 115k miles. The interior is natural brown, with manual seats, but I will be converting to an M3 interior in a surprise color and converting to both heated and electric seats for maximum comfort and style. Rear seats will be done to match and so will the door panels, all with matching leather (brand new, reupholstery, not redyed or used leather).
This update includes the rear end swap from an E46 M3 after fully refurbishing all used items to remove surface rust, add protection and paint, subframe reinforcements, V-brace retrofit, brand new balljoints (x4), new Hotchkis swaybar and endlinks, new camber arms, new polyurethane subframe bushings, M3 driveshaft, M3 ZCP rear brakes (temporary, F80 brakes being refurbished and coming soon), new Bimmerworld TA5R wheels in 18x9 ET42, Ground Control coilover suspension, new wheel bearings, new wheel hubs, and more.
