Especially when they see foreign movies dubbed in their own language. I’m an English as a second language teacher and I’ve heard from a few of my Japanese students that when they were young they watched American movies dubbed in Japanese and thought the “foreigners” were actually speaking Japanese.

Yes it can also be “going south” means failing or not looking good. I used “cloudy” (referring to the kids reaction) since cloudy can be use as troubled, suspicious awkward or dubious. Tsukasa doing the hey girl!! thingy making the girl uncomfortable and scared. And Rui was referring to how things are getting awkward. I thought it would be easier to understand if I use it since not everyone is familiar with idioms. But thank you for asking, I think I need to reconsider when I have to adjust the lines or not.
